Arnold, CA...From the National Weather Service...Snow Showers and Strong Wind for Higher Mountain Elevations into Tuesday. Late season Pacific storm will bring periods of moderate snow and strong wind to the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada and mountains of Western Plumas County into Tuesday. Travel into the mountains should be avoided during this time period as slick roads, lowered visibility, travel delays and chain controls are expected.
Eldorado National Forest Begins Reopening Developed Day Use Recreation Sites

Placerville, CA...The Eldorado National Forest is increasing access to the public by providing additional developed day use recreational opportunities with limited services. Restroom facilities will open as soon as personnel can mobilize and safety and cleaning supplies are obtained. We encourage visitors to check our website and social media pages for the most up-to-date information on what is open so that you can plan your visit. You can also call your local ranger station during normal business hours Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Seasonal Routes on State Highways Open for Summer Even as Stay-At-Home Order Remains In Effect

Alpine, Tuolumne, Mono and Inyo Counties, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced today it has opened seasonal highways in the Sierra after completing necessary road repairs and removing winter snow and debris in preparation for the summer season. The opening of the Sierra routes comes at a time when California’s “stay-at- home” order remains in effect until further notice. All Californians are reminded that it is critical to stay home during this time in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Additionally, social distancing behaviors and other preventive measures as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and the California Department of Public Health help protect the health and well-being of everyone.
