Public Input Needed for Pine Grove Dollar General Project

Posted by: Lea_Marie_C_Paar on 07/14/2014 11:46 PM
Pine Grove, Ca...I am writing to express my disappointment with the scheduled Pine Grove Dollar General store project. For many reasons, I feel there needs to be public input on this project. I have strong concerns over the "Negative Declarations" status regarding the approval of the Environmental Impact Report and the ommission of public review originally. The zoning and EIR were granted over 20 years ago and they need to be revisited. While concerned community residents and business people seek legal counsel and a Injunction to delay the project, I am hoping county officials will see fit to grant this themselves.. There is no reason to bring a box store such as Dollar General to our community, which holds "community concepts" dearly. We don't want our local retailers to suffer, not do we look forward to employment lay offs and hours cut when those stores begin to feel the presence of Dollar General. Those employees will not be hired by Dollar General, as they historically only hire 4-6 part time employees and a manager. We don't need more unemployment in Amador!...

Your Internet Broadband Advocates at Central Sierra Connect Want To Know...Have You Been Tested Yet?

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/10/2014 09:00 AM
Central Sierra Connect is a program of the Amador-Tuolumne Community Action Agency. Our vision is to bridge the digital divide by bringing broadband to the people and the people to broadband. Right now, that vision is threatened by inaccurate information being used by decision makers in Sacramento and Washington D.C. Our region needs high speed, broadband Internet service in order to grow and prosper in today’s economy. We need to get accurate information into the hands of those who fund the projects that can make that happen. To do that, we need to know about the Internet service you receive at your home and business addresses. And we've made it super easy to do – it only takes 5 minutes! Just click below or on this link to access the Internet Service Reporting Form: http://bit.ly/cscmapping

4-H Wants You - To Make The Best Better!

Posted by: Lea_Marie_C_Paar on 07/02/2014 08:59 PM
Calaveras County, Ca...4-H can trace its roots to the early part of last century when County Extension Offices were trying to increase knowledge among local farmers. The County Extension Offices began teaching youth about new and innovative farming practices, hoping their parents would take notice, and they did. Over the years 4-H has evolved to become one of the largest positive youth development programs in the nation. It has grown to offer projects for five to eighteen year olds in pretty much any topic imaginable. Recently Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, and Tuolumne counties pooled their resources to form the state’s first Multi-County Partnership, the UC Cooperative Extension Central Sierra. Together we are working to improve the lives of young people throughout the region, while keeping our county 4-H identities. The Central Sierra 4-H program is looking to build capacity by increasing the amount and types of projects offered to youth in our four counties. Do you have a passion you want to share? Do you love kids? We provide training and support so you wouldn’t be doing this in the dark. We are adding projects in all four counties. Possible projects may include robotics, cultural arts, soap making, entomology, ballroom dancing, and so much more....

Declare Your Independence Responsibly This 4th Of July

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/01/2014 10:41 AM
Sacramento, CA....Independence Day is a holiday celebrating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, by America’s forefathers. Many Californians will celebrate this occasion with outdoor barbeques, picnics, and social gatherings. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) encourages you to enjoy the holiday but always designate a sober driver and buckle up. The CHP will be out in full force during the holiday weekend in an effort to reduce roadway deaths and prevent injuries. The Independence Day Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP) begins on Thursday, July 3, at 6 p.m. and continues through Sunday, July 6, at 11:59 p.m. All available officers throughout the state will be deployed during the MEP to focus enforcement on occupant restraints, speed violations, and those driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs....

Local Inventor Featured in National Magazine

Posted by: Lea_Marie_C_Paar on 07/01/2014 01:26 PM
Sutter Creek, CA – In a recent interview with Electronic Products Magazine, local inventor Mike Doherty, president and CEO of EMCO High Voltage Corporation, discusses the creative process of developing an award-winning electronic device. In the article, Doherty explains the importance of removing himself from “the noise and clutter of modern life.” He says, “To create, you have to learn to identify a weak signal among all the noise and focus your efforts on that signal.” After conceiving an idea, Doherty works with EMCO’s engineering team to turn his vision into reality. According to Doherty, the idea behind EMCO’s award-winning AG Series of high voltage power supplies was to deliver high performance in a space-saving package. Under Doherty’s guidance, EMCO continues to develop new high voltage technologies at the company’s facilities in Sutter Creek, California, and Minden, Nevada...
