Two Day Walker Trail Marijuana Eradication

Copperopolis, CA...On 10-4-17 members of the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office Marijuana Enforcement Team accompanied Code Compliance Officers on the service of an abatement warrant at a marijuana cultivation site on Walker Trail, which is rurally located between Copperopolis and Jenny Lind. This location was pending finalized registration with the Planning Department as a commercial medical marijuana cultivation site, however numerous additional marijuana cultivation plots well in excess of the allowable canopy size had been discovered on this parcel.

Copperopolis, CA...The following information is to update on the status of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team’s recent activities: On 9-29-17 CCSO MET Team deputies served search warrants for illegal marijuana cultivation at two separate locations on Chuckwagon Drive in Copperopolis. At the first location, no subjects were found to be present and 474 marijuana plants were eradicated. At the second location, four subjects were arrested and 127 marijuana plants were eradicated.

Hosting our annual health fairs is just one way that we are able to provide valuable and needed resources in our rural community.”

Bret Harte FFA Brings the GOLD to Angels Camp ~ Ashlynn Maddeaux

Angels Camp, CA...On September 27th, the Bret Harte FFA Chapter participated in the FFA Mountain School opening and closing contest at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds. The Calaveras FFA Chapter hosted the contest not only for Bret Harte FFA, but also Sutter Creek FFA, and Sonora FFA. The competition consisted of three different levels beginning with the Greenhand Teams (freshman students only), the Open Teams (mixture of Sophomore, Juniors & Seniors) and the Chapter Officer Teams (the six elected officers of the chapter). The contest requires a team of officers to recite the opening and closing ceremony from memory and they are judged on presentation, poise and accuracy of speech.

Sometimes we forget that threatening harm, such as a strike, is a form of extortion which is defined as: "The obtaining of property from another induced by wrongful use of actual or threatened force, violence, or fear, or under color of official right." In this case, the victim seems to be the taxpayer. How many parents would want their children taught by a teacher who condoned extortion?
