Weekly Market Update Week of September 13, 2010~by Donna M. Stevenson of Pacific West Financial Group

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/16/2010 05:10 PM
Copperopolis, CA...THE MARKETS: After taking one giant step back on Tuesday followed by three baby steps forward on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, U.S. stocks managed to rise into positive territory for the second straight week. Although September is traditionally the worst performing month of the year for equities, stocks have been on the mend so far as reports on the labor market, manufacturing, and business activity have been better than expected. Recent economic reports are confirming that while the rate of economic recovery has slowed, it's still on a positive trajectory...

Copper Couple Makes a Saucy Splash with the Creation of Great Aunt Dora’s Memphis Sauce ~By, Charity Maness

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 09/13/2010 05:04 PM
Copperopilis, CA....Kenny and Patty Mosley of Copperopolis knew they had something good on their hands when a few years ago they began a small word of mouth catering service highlighting their Great Aunt Dora’s special pulled pork sauce on their mouth watering ribs and their pulled pork sandwiches. At each event they catered the people in attendance, happily munching on the delicious meal, repeatedly told Kenny and Patty around mouthfuls of mouthwatering food, “You should market this!” After hearing it multiple times, the idea finally took seed.....

Chinook Salmon Study May Lower Lake Tulloch Levels~by Susan Larson Tri-Dam Project

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/13/2010 11:27 AM
Copperopolis, CA...The Oakdale and South San Joaquin Irrigation Districts are planning to participate in an important flow study involving the main tributaries of the San Joaquin River. These studies are designed to evaluate the impacts and benefits of additional flows on water temperature, dissolved oxygen, and migrating fall run Chinook salmon. These studies will include the Stanislaus River, which would involve changes to the water levels within Tulloch Reservoir.  Water levels within Tulloch Reservoir are expected to be different than the United States Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) schedule recently distributed to area residents, agencies and other interested parties.  This study is currently expected to begin on September 17th and be completed by September 30th,...

Weekly Market Update Week of August 30, 2010. ~By Donna Stevenson, Pacific West Financial

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/02/2010 11:49 PM
Copperopolis, CA...THE MARKETS: What is traditionally Wall Street’s quietest month has been about as peaceful as a crowded five-o-clock flight to Las Vegas that’s serving up all-you-can-drink Red Bull. After closing below 10,000 on Thursday, the Dow dropped as low as 9,936 in early Friday trading before finally rallying 165 points (1.7%) to recapture the psychologically important 10,000 level and finally close at 10,150. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq likewise rose 1.7% for the day. In spite of Friday’s performance, each of the major indexes finished to the downside for the week – proof that the ongoing tug-of-war between strong corporate balance sheets and troubling economic indicators is still exerting an influence on the markets...

Welcome to the Country~by Charity Maness

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/31/2010 03:29 PM
So you’ve decided to move to the country where sometimes we need to be reminded that there are parts of the country that are slightly more odd than us. What follows are a few musing from my latest trip to Kentucky with Wyatt and mini Wyatt....With seemingly every visit to Kentucky within the past year my mere presence has brought on monumental flooding, destructive storms and tornados, the locals are beginning to think I might be kin to mother nature herself. So of course this visit, being no different, brought twister warnings within the first day of arrival. So, what to do while waiting for a possible twister? Soak in a friend’s pool of course. That would be a friend with a basement; friends with benefits takes on a whole new meaning round these parts. Pools and basements rank way up there in the benefit department. Just FYI, teeth are pretty low on that list......
