Avery Wins 28th Annual 6th Grade AMA Girls Volleyball Tourny !

Avery, CA....The 28th annual 6th grade AMA Girl's Volleyball tournament was hosted by Avery Middle School, where they won the tournament against Copper Elementary that went to the third game with a tie at 14 all. Avery gained the next two points winning the tournament. There was excellent volleyball played all afternoon as Valley Springs #2 earned 3rd place defeating Jenny Lind. The girls had a great time ending their season with this win.

Traffic Alert...Vehicle Into A Pole on O'Byrnes Ferry

Copperopolis, CA..Pole Down on O'Byrnes Ferry near Conner Estates Drive. A Ford Mustang went into a power pole a few minutes ago. More to follow if needed. Update: Pole is across both lanes. O'ByrnesFerry Road south of Conner Estates will be closed until PG&&E is able to get the lanes cleared. No injuries involved. Update 10:23am: PG&E advises eta of opening will be 1 hour.

Copperopolis, CA...Bill was born in Chilliwack, Canada on November 17, 1944. At an early age his father moved his family to Albany, California where Bill attended schools through high school. He received his bachelors from Cal State Hayward. While in the Navy Bill was a parachute rigger. Bill was very devoted to the Masonic Lodge. He was one of the younger Masters in the Bay Cities Lodge in Richmond, CA in the 1970's. Bill worked for Wells Fargo Bank in the San Francisco area for 17 years. Bill loved being his own boss. He had a janitorial business in Foster City for many years prior to moving to....

Resident Deputy Program has started Calaveras County. Sheriff Gary Kuntz made the announcement in Copperopolis Thursday 3/24/2011. Calaveras County Sheriff Gary Kuntz with Deputy Newnam and Supervisor Darren Spellman. Deputy P. Newnam was named Thursday morning as the “Resident Deputy” for the community of Copperopolis. His beat covers other areas, but Deputy Newnam has lived in Copperopolis for over 10 years and while he may already be known to many of his neighbors as their home town peace officer, being formally assigned as such is a part of the resident Deputy program that Sheriff Kuntz pledged to bring back during his campaign last year.....

When I was a kid my Grandpa used to say, “You know when you are getting old because you hear the snap, crackle and pop and you haven’t poured the milk on your Rice Krispies yet.” That always struck me as funny because I loved listening to that noise when the milk went on my Rice Krispies. But this was also the same man that carried a flask in his shirt pocket that was for, “Snakebite and moonstroke”. But then I hit fifty something . . . and one morning I was walking down the hallway, my left elbow popped, then my right knee snapped and both my feet made bone noises that . . . well I wouldn’t call it a crackle . . . and Grandpa’s saying wasn’t so darn funny anymore . . . just a change of perspective......

Sheriff Gary Kuntz Restarts Resident Deputy Program with Deputy Wayne Newnam

Copperopolis, CA...In response to the new administration’s renewed focus on community oriented policing, which focuses on the formation of problem solving partnerships between the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office and business entities and citizens within the county, Sheriff Gary Kuntz took the first step in realizing this goal by selecting and appointing the first resident deputy for the renewed Resident Deputy Program. Effective March 7, 2011 Deputy Wayne Newnam, a 13 year veteran of the sheriff’s department, was selected and will assume his new role as the resident deputy for B-Beat, which includes the townships of Copperopolis, Vallecito, Douglas Flat, Carson Hill, portions of Murphys, and the unincorporated areas of Angels Camp....
