Lake Tulloch, Copperopolis, CA....On August 9, 2008 at about 5:30pm, a Marine Safety Deputy observed (S) Berbereia operate a vessel over the posted speed in a restricted speed zone on Lake Tulloch near the river/inlet. When the Deputy contacted (S) Berbereia, he observed that the suspect showed physical signs and symptoms of consuming an alcoholic beverage. During the investigation (S) Berbereia was found to have a blood.....

Copperopolis Town Square to Host "Hot Copper Days" This Saturday August 16th...Video and Slide Show of Last Year's Event Enclosed

Copperopolis, CA...Copperopolis Town Square will host Hot Copper Days, a vintage car show sponsored by the Lake Tulloch Lions Club of Calaveras County on August 16 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pre-registration entry fees are $15, and $20 at the gate, day-of-admission. Awards are bestowed for first and second place in 13 car classes, with judging taking place from 1 to 3 p.m. Also awarded will be “Best in Show” and the “Copperopolis Town Square Manager’s Award,” as selected by Billie B. Kane. The first 100 entries will receive free souvenir dash plaques, courtesy of Copperopolis Town Square. “With its first phase completed and a host of new businesses open and flourishing, Copperopolis Town Square is a lively, ideal setting for local events and festivals,” says Kane, Director of Properties for Castle & Cooke...

Copperopolis, CA...Every Thursday Night Copperopolis Town Square has been filled with music and people out enjoying the summer nights. They keep the stores open late and drinks and refreshments are offered. The square continues it's growth as the place to be in the Copperopolis Area. The first restaurant Panini's Italian Grill will open in October. This in addition to Cruiser's Ice Cream will make the Square the place to stop for dinner and dessert. Panini's will add a huge draw that will compliment the businesses that are already open.

Jenny Lind, CA...Supervisor Russ Thomas played host and invited County Assessor Grant W. Metzger, Jr. and Leslie Davis, Assistant Assessor to address the public on if the declining home values can also lower your tax bill. Last night's meeting was held at the Jenny Lind Firehouse. The Assessor's office has already sent out 5,500 notices to county property owners who have had a value decline. If you have not received a notice then at least according to the county your property values have not dropped....

ThePineTree.net has a Fun Contest planned beginning on September 27th and and ending October 20th. Print the "Class of 2008" FROG MAP WE HAVE ENCLOSED and pay a visit to each frog site. Your map will be stamped at the site with a "frog". When you have finished visiting all of the Frog sites, drop off your map at the Calaveras Chamber of Commerce, attention Diane, no later than October 21st, with your name and phone # filled out. We will then hold a drawing for some FABULOUS PRIZES donated so generously by local businesses.... including Two Tickets to the Gala Auction, Kayak rentals from SNAC, A Free Zip Line adventure from Cave and Mine Adventures, CAMPS Dinner Gift Certificate, Golf for Foursome at Greenhorn Creek Golf Resort, Local Wines, Gift Certificates, Gift Baskets and More! Sheriff's Department Release on Copperopolis Fire and Suicide of 46 Year Old James Arno Watt

Copperopolis, CA...On 8-5-08 Calaveras County Sheriffs Department responded to a suicidal subject with a weapon who had set his house on fire. Deputies arrived and attempted to get the subject to relinquish his firearm, however, he would not. The Fire Department was unable to extinguish the fire, fearing for their safety. The Sheriffs Department called in their Hostage Negotiation Team, however, prior to their arrival, the subject took his life. The Fire Department moved in and extinguished the fire. Detectives were dispatched to the scene to continue this investigation. The case is still under investigation.

Copperopolis, CA...We have received the Fire Report on the sad fire and suicide yesterday in Copperopolis. The total damage was approximately $500,000 and the house was a total loss. Units from Copperopolis, Baseline, Standard, Arnold, San Andreas, Arnold, Murphys, Twain Harte, Altaville, Columbia Air Attack and more worked this unfortunate incident. The Fire report is enclosed...
