Habitat for Humanity Calaveras is Seeking Volunteers

San Andreas, CA...In its efforts to assist more local families with their housing needs, Habitat for Humanity is seeking volunteers to help with its continuing projects. Depending on their interests and abilities, volunteers may be assigned to help in operating the ReStore (proceeds fund Habitat’s housing programs), “A Brush With Kindness” sprucing up homes in various local neighborhoods, a Women Build project in May, a Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative at the Community Hall in West Point, and fundraising for Snow-Down for Habitat in March and Hoe-Down for Habitat in September....

San Andeas, CA...(We planned this interview to be part of the Chamber's Welcome Home Campaign. We shot it a couple of weeks before the announcement so we thought a repost is in order. One of the things a vibrant and healthy community needs is quality health care. Mark Twain Medical Center's CEO Craig Marks and his team have the vision and plans to do just that) We had the pleasure to spend a few minutes with new Mark Twain Medical Center CEO Craig Marks. There have and will be big changes and plans at our local hospital and medical centers. They plan on recruiting up to 30 new providers over the next few years and they are opening up a new cancer center as well. We conducted our interview in a new Fluoroscopy Suite that is being installed.

San Andreas, CA...It will be a busy BOS Meeting as the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors for 2013 wade into county business. Resolutions honoring Colleen Smart for her leadership and inspiration in support of health care programs and services in Calaveras County and recognizing Jeannie Middleton for her “24” years of service with the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department will get the meeting started. The noisy issue of Copperopolis Area Lake Tulloch vacation rentals is back on the docket and more as the agenda is enclosed...

San Andreas, CA...The last few days with the colder temps have been quieter ones for the local Sheriff's Department at least in the total call volume. Still some significant incidents just total volume a bit lower per day...
Bret Harte Squeaks out a 60-55 Win in Triple Overtime over Calaveras on Friday Night

Angels Camp, CA...In a game that will only add to the stories and history in the battles between Bret Harte and Calaveras the Bullfrogs came out on top of a triple overtime game. Yes...triple overtime. Three times these teams were knotted up as time ran out. Both teams left everything they had on the floor. We have photos below including the one below that Kim Evans sent in. Video replay of the game is enclosed....
Angels Camp, CA...The winter months bring cold weather, shorter days, and treacherous driving and walking conditions, which can lead to increased risk of falling on slippery or uneven surfaces. However, one does not have to accept that a fall this winter IS as an unavoidable inconvenience. Physical therapy may be the option to help minimize fall risk and avoid possible injuries that may arise from experiencing a fall....

Murphys, CA...The Cub Scout Pack 343 held a flag retirement ceremony last week. It was indeed a ceremony. These young boys are learning the proper respect for our nations flag, and consider it an honor that only a few have the privilege to perform. Our military, Veterans Associations , and the Boy
Scouts of America are the only authorized groups designated to perform this ceremony. It began with a uniform inspection at attention. The Pack leader inspects each boy's uniform, makes any necessary adjustment, and presents the scout with a patch acknowledging proper attire. Several of the scout leaders and parents then each read a portion of a flag dedication. The pledge of allegiance is then recited....
