Fire Completely Destroys Copperopolis Home

Copperopolis, CA...We just spoke with Chris at CAL-FIRE and an O'Byrnes Ferry Rd home was completely destroyed by fire. The fire started around 5:30 am and completely engulfed the unoccupied home. The family has been notified. Responding to the fire were 7 engines, 3 water tenders, hand crews and more. Fire was contained to the residence. Crews will be on scene until this afternoon mopping up.

Vehicle Cause of 1/4 Acre Fire on Hwy 4 in Copperopolis

Copperopolis, CA...CAL Fire States a vehicle was the cause of a small 1/4 acre grass fire that occurred on July 17th at 3472 Hwy 4 and Hunt Road in Copperopolis. No injuries or dollar damages reported. Full CAL Fire report enclosed....

Calaveras County, CA...UPDATE....Voted to postpone until August 12th due to discussion of Public Access Issues. The Public Hearing foe the Villa del Lago Prject is scheduled for July 22nd, 2008. Tune Up Days start at their Martell Store tomorrow and will be held at their Sonora store on July 25 and their new Angels Camp Store on August 1. All three are a combination Tune-Up Day, Customer Appreciation, 15 Year Anniversary Celebration. Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Closed Session Continues On Friday Eve at 5pm.(UPDATED)

San Andreas, CA...UPDATE....The Closed Session that was continued this evening at 5pm this evening adjourned around the 8pm hour. We are not sure if it will be continued or of it is complete. We also have not heard any of the outcome as of yet......The marathon closed session continues. We would like to thank Supervisor Clerk Carol Gates for giving us a call with the status! They still do not have an outcome and it will resume Friday Night at 5:00pm. There is obviously no official word as to the actual subject matter of this closed session as it is a "Closed Session". It is known that it is pertaining to employee matters and due to recent events it is assumed that the Closed Session is regarding the status of the CDA Director but this cannot be verified. What from we have heard there has been no outcome of this Closed Session that began on Tuesday as of yet.

Copperopolis, CA....CAL Fire states debris from a BBQ drip pan caused a small 1/2 acre vegetation fire at 57 Apollo Lane in Copperopolis on Sunday. Estimated dollar damage is $100, no injuries. Full fire report enclosed....

San Andreas, CA....The BOS are back in action on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 9am. There will be Public Comment at 9:10am; Some of the agenda items being discussed will be a Minute Order authorizing the Director of the Health Services Agency to sign the Acceptance of Allocation Agreement from the Tobacco Control Section, in the amount of $150,0000 for tobacco use and prevention education; There will be a Minute Order approving a 10 year lease with CCWD for the existing White Pines Park area to be used as a Calaveras County playground and Recreation area; There will be a Closed Session regarding public employee discipline/dismissal/release. Angels Camp, CA....If you did not have a chance to attend or catch our "Live" streaming of the Economic Summit that took place on Friday, we now have the replay up for your viewing pleasure.....The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce, together with the County of Calaveras and the City of Angels sponsored the 1st Annual Calaveras County Economic Revitalization Summit, a first time historic event, and the beginning of a county-wide ongoing design process. After months of planning, just over 150 of the best and brightest of our local minds met, strategized, planned, broke bread together and listened to some great speakers. Most of our current Supervisors and many department personell, Business Leaders, The City of Angels Camp management team, Educators and more were on hand. It was an all day event starting with the first speaker, Steve Art ,who is the economic development director for Lincoln CA. In recent years Lincoln was one of the fastest growing cities in the US....

Art's of Bear Valley Summer Show Will Run Concurrently with Bear Valley Music Fest!

Bear Valley, CA....This is the 18th Year for the Arts of Bear Valley Summer Show! It will be running concurrently with the Bear Valley Music Festival from July 26th~August 10th, in the Perry Walther Building, across from the Bear Valley Music Festival Tent. They will feature an art raffle benefiting the Music Festival. The raffle includes artwork by Nancy Calhoun, Jerry Gililland, June Brown and Joyce Schoonover. Tickets will be sold daily at the Art show in the Perry Walter building, next to the music tent, with the winning tickets to be drawn on August 10th.
