Copperopolis Homecoming Celebration and Emergency Services Day! ~By John Hamilton

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 06/07/2009 11:56 PM
Copperopolis, CA...Saturday Copperopolis was hopping with Pancake Breakfasts, Parades, Bounce Houses, Booths, Hot Dogs, T Shirts, Fire Engines, Chili Cook Offs and More. In a tradition that dates back for over a 100 years local and visitors flocked to Copper to celebrate. We stopped by and got some highlights of the parade and we stopped by the Fire Station and took a gander at all the displays. We have over a 100 photos below and about 12 minutes of video that is enclosed...

Copperopolis was smokin’ hot on Saturday…well at least the chili was smokin’ hot!~by Charity Maness

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 06/08/2009 09:08 PM
Copperopolis, CA....The first annual sixth grade science camp chili cook-off sponsored by Micki and Larry’s Sports Pub was an astounding success. The entrants in the youth division ranged from a mere nine years old to fifteen years old. The judges had a tough time judging this one. After some serious debate the judges decided they needed one more sample each of “the Dominator” and “Hoorah”. At first I thought they were simply extremely hungry judges, but it seemed there was a tie. Taking their title of judge seriously (as serious as possible seeing as how they were sequestered in the Sports Pub) they knew a winner had to be....

In Loving Memory of My Mom, Diana Kercheval Bennett~by Charity Maness

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 06/04/2009 11:19 PM
It is with the greatest grief and pain that I have ever felt that I need to write this letter to inform you of the passing of my mother, my best friend, Diana Kercheval Bennett. For those of you that knew her I hope you will remember her for her infectious laugh, her giving heart, and her unending love of life. My mother was a retired RN and found great joy in participating in medial missions to Peru, Ecuador, Africa, and more. When I was young she worked with blind children teaching them the basics of brail, she would visit children.....

Local Firefighter Running for a Cure~by Charity Maness

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 05/31/2009 08:54 PM
Copperopolis, CA....Local firefighter Stacey Nolan will be running a Nike women’s marathon on October 18th in San Francisco to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), as a participant in the Team in Training program. Stacey has been a long time resident of Copperopolis, and volunteer firefighter and fire prevention specialist for the Copperopolis Fire Protection District for the past five years. She’s also a Cal-Fire firefighter stationed at the Columbia Air Base. As if that’s not enough, she’s a phlebotomist at Sonora Regional Medical.....

Welcome to the country...So you’ve decided to move to the country where we have the seasonal running of the bulls ~By Charity Maness

Posted by: thepinetree on 05/30/2009 01:44 PM
Copperopolis, CA...No you have not moved to Pamplona, Spain. To witness the running of the bulls Calaveras style you may have moved to any number of the scenic towns popping up along the highway 4 corridor that boast an over abundance of bovine beauties and the finest specimens of bulls to be found in the state (though some may be missing their more important parts making them steer.) You might just be out for a leisurely drive with your husband on a beautiful spring morning, enjoying the fleeting spring green rolling hills and the gentle winding roads (come on, compared to Lombard street these roads are gentle winding roads, let the author have a little creative room here ok?) when you come across a bovine beauty munching on the lovely greenery along...

Copperopolis, CA...The Calaveras Arts Council kicks off its 2009 series of free Music in the Parks on Wednesday, June 17, at the Copperopolis Town Square, starting at 6:30 pm. If you haven’t yet visited this whole new town with a historic past, this is a good time. The free concert, the first of ten this summer in various parks of Calaveras County, will feature Golden Bough, a trio that captures the essence and joy of traditional Irish and Scottish Celtic music -- as well as Wales, Cornwall, The Isle of Man, French Brittany and Spanish Galicia....

Welcome to the Country!.....So You’ve Decided to Move to the Country Where Clothing is Optional!~by Charity Maness

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 05/23/2009 12:38 AM
Welcome to the country!...So you’ve decided to move to the country where clothing is optional….at least my son thought so. Now that I have your full attention, let me tell you the story. We’d lived here in Tombstone for about a year and I had miraculously managed to clear away the majority of the hapless tumbleweeds from my property and had planted some drought resistant, inferno loving, rock tolerant plants. Rather, I was beginning to make my house ......

CHP's R.A.I.D Program Visited Calaveras Last Weekend ~By John Hamilton

Posted by: thepinetree on 05/22/2009 03:51 PM
San Andreas, CA...We had the pleasure of seeing CHP's Rapid Apprehension of Impaired Drivers or RAID program in action. We stopped by the CHP Office in San Andreas on Saturday evening to see them in action. The local CHP office brought additional Officers, Motorcycle Units, Screening Equipment and even their own in house Phlebotomist from their air medical crew for blood draws. CHP Officer Jaimie Castillo and even some visiting officers from other areas were gracious enough to fill in some of the details for us....
