Copperopolis, CA...Crews are responding to what CHP is reporting as a single vehicle off the roadway just south of Copperopolis Town Square. Please use caution in the area...Update as of 8am...Two were transported to Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital with minor injuries....

In 1997 Sheriff Downum of the Calaveras County Sheriff Department saw a need for chaplain services within the county. Reaching out to Father Jim Stout of the Church of the Ascension in Copperopolis, he found the man for the job. On June 4 1997, Father Jim and his wife Pam moved to Copperopolis. On June 14 1997, Copperopolis had it yearly Homecoming celebration. It was there that Sheriff Downum approached him and told him of the community’s need. ....

San Andreas, CA...Last night was outgoing Clerk Recorder Karen Varni's last election rodeo. We would like to thank Karen for always being helpful on Election Nights. District 5 has a new Supervisor. Darren Spellman is ahead in a very hard fought race. Angels Camp looks like it will have two City Councilman. Stuart Raggio was the top vote draw in the City and Greenhorn Creek Resident Steve Difu is running 8 votes ahead of Mayor Jack Lynch...

THE MARKETS: October provided another example that the stock market and the economy do not always move in tandem. For the month, the Dow posted its best October since 2006, rising 3%, the S&P advanced 4%, and the Nasdaq leapt 6%1. Meanwhile, the government’s initial reading on Gross Domestic Product – the broadest measure of the economy – showed that the current recovery is still one of the weakest in generations. For three months ending in September, GDP grew at an annual rate of only 2%. During the past 30 years, the average growth rate during a U.S. economic expansion has been 3.6%. During the end of 2009, growth was as strong as 5%.

Copperopolis kids dressed in all their finery, be it ghoulishly scary, eye dazzling beautiful, or just plain silly, attended the highly anticipated Copper Town Square Halloween event. The town square was decked out with webs, ghosts, goblins, spiders and more. There was live music, a parade, a costume contest, and the finale…trick or treating through the whole town square. Each window was carefully decorated by local businesses and organizations, and manned to hand out candy by the handful to each costumed passerby. Located at each exit was a Calaveras County Sheriff Volunteer making sure that any child that may have wandered away would quickly find his or her parent.....
