Calaveras County Supervisors Pass Summer Rental Ordinance

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted March 26th to establish a permitting system for future summer or transient rentals on Lake Tulloch. This move, requested by besieged residents for years, was passed after four recent meetings over the past 90 days. The current effort to deal with the problem began in the summer of 2011. The Board of Supervisors voted to develop an ordinance in April 2012 in lieu of an initial ban of the practice. The Calaveras County Planning Commission approved the ordinance in November 2012....

Copperopolis, CA...Copperopolis Town Square – the events, shopping and entertainment gathering place in Calaveras County – will host its “Spring Fest” on Sunday, Mar. 24 from 12 to 4 p.m. The family day and sidewalk sale will be headlined by an appearance from Miss USA 2011, Alyssa Campanella. Star of a recent Super Bowl KIA commercial (which can be seen here), she will host a 1 p.m. fashion show in the town square and afterward appear at PHE Beautique to sign autographs....

Angels Camp, CA...Bret Harte hosted "Play it Forward" at their home opener against Argonaut on Wednesday. The score of the game didn't go their way on Wednesday but almost everything else did. “Mister October” made a March appearance after traveling all the way from Tampa Florida to attend. Reggie Jackson sat in place of Alex Marshall, a Bret Harte player who, together with his younger sister Macaila, died in early February. Reggie Jackson is a longtime friend of Alex's and Macaila's Mother, Seanie Marshall's goal ws to bring the community together with an old school baseball theme and raise money for Bret Hart programs and say thank you to the community for their support...

Federlein Family Fund Donates to Calaveras Community Foundation

Angels Camp, CA..Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) has been the recipient of over $63,000 in the past three years from The Federlein Family Fund at the San Francisco Foundation specifically to benefit area seniors. An additional generous grant of $15,000 received earlier this year has jump started CCF’s 2013 fundraising efforts and will support our ongoing senior initiative....
Calaveras County Sheriff’s Volunteers Earn Their Stripes

San Andreas, CA...During the March meeting of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Volunteer Unit, four volunteers were presented with service stripes by Volunteer Captain Don Crouch. One service stripe is awarded for each two years of service. Receiving awards are David Aguilar and Ed Evans for two years of service, Al DeMott and Ross Sheely for fours of service. Volunteers assist the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department in a wide range of activities including staffing substations, patrol residential areas, businesses, schools and parks and crowd control at community events....

Died March 11, 2013 at his residence in Copperopolis, CA Services will be Saturday March 16, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Angels Memorial Chapel in Angels Camp. Interment will be at Copperopolis Cemetery. Jose was born on the 25th of November 1922 to Rogaciano and Carmen Gonzales. He has 5 siblings: Maria, Jesusita(deceased), Tony(deceased), Nacho (deceased), and Feliz. He is survived by his wife, Carmen Rosalinda Avalos Gonzales, to whom he was married in Reno Nevada.they have been together for 60 years since October 24th 1953 other than his wife he is survived by his four children: EstellaGonzales Guizar, Joe Gonzales Jr, Rick Gonzales(Debbie Gonzales), Patricia Gonzales. He has seven grandchildren: Johnny Mendez, Ricky Gonzales Jr, Nina Marie Guizar, Rachel Mendez (Jay Zimmer), Michael Gonzales, Jolene Guizar, and Sonia Gonzales.
