Tri-Dam Rejects Villa Del Lago and Sues Calaveras County....Letter to the Editor by Betsy Duncan

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/19/2008 08:27 AM
Copperopolis, CA...Interesting news today at Lake Tulloch. Tri Dam held their weekly board meeting today where the Villa Del lago Project was on the agenda to be heard. Upon my arrival I sat in the rear row and waited for the meeting to start. The attorney for the project was the first to speak at which time he requested a 30 day extension. Seems he found out just this morning that Tri Dam is suing Calaveras County. Their claim is that Calaveras County BOS approved the environmental documents without satisfying Tri Dam's concerns. In addition it became that private group of residents is also planning to file suit on the mitigated negative declaration. I have forwarded the Tri Dam Staff Report....

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/19/2008 09:11 AM
Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras County Builders Association held their Annual Meeting and a Candidates Forum at Greenhorn Creek on Wednesday night. Hammered is probably too strong of a term (But it made for a better headline). All of the Candidates in the Supervisorial Races attended, answered questions and vied for the construction and building community's votes in November. The Builders Association Roger Stevenson handled the MC duties for the evening. Zerrall McDaniel, Supervisor Tom Tryon, Gary Tofanelli & Councilman Seaton started things off with opening statements. Roger Stevenson started off by asking the Candidates a series of prepared questions and then opened it up for questions from the audience. Some of the questions were pointed such as...

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/12/2008 08:16 AM
Frogtown, CA...The Fair Board as expected made some adjustments to the plans for the 2009 Calaveras County Fair and Frog Jumping Jubilee. The board and management have received quite a bit of feedback and suggestions from the community meeting last month on what changes the community would like to see. The main and most visible changes for attendees will be a renewed focus on the arena events with Jr. Bull Riding being added. The Rodeo, Horse Events and more will be showcased. The Fair will also move away from a traditional Headliner music act on Saturday Night. Based on Community Feedback this seemed one area where costs could be saved and shifted to enhancing events in the arena. The schedule will also return to a Thursday - Sunday schedule. One of the shining successes of...
