San Andreas, CA....Our Calaveras County Board of Supervisors are back in action Tuesday morning at 9am. Some of the agenda items being discussed are a RESOLUTION authorizing amendment to Professional Services Agreement with Weatherby-Reynolds-Fritson Engineering and Design for plan checking services, in an amount not to exceed $85,000, and extending term of existing agreement to December 31, 2008; MINUTE ORDER authorizing Board Chair to execute Standard Agreement 08-0122, between Calaveras County and CDFA, Weed Management, in an amount not to exceed $17,186.40, for Fiscal Years 2008/09; Dept. of Agriculture; RESOLUTION approving contract extension with California Forensic Medical Group, Inc., for medical services for jail inmates,; Sheriff - Board action: RESOLUTION adjusting the FY 2007-2008 budget for Calaveras County Sheriff, in the amount of $34,800.00, for payment of Kirchhoff & Associates contract; along with a BUDGET TRANSFER, for said amount, in conjunction therewith; (4/5 vote required) Sheriff; COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AGENCY Discussion and possible action re: the introduction/first reading of an ordinance approving revisions to Chapter 15.06 Flood Damage Prevention; Community Development Agency. There was a small 6 acre grass fire on Hwy 4 and Circle X this afternoon. We do a weekend recap, discuss Sheriff Downum's Press Release, Sheryl Crow, SNAC's Kayak Fest and more. We would like to thank tonights News Sponsor, Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital. Recently one of their ICU nurses, David Lei, was instrumental in saving the life of a gentleman on Southwest Flight 3775 last week. This Thursday the hospital is having a reception for him to say “Thanks" which we will be attending. San Andreas, CA....The Class of 2008 was 255 strong as they graduated last night. The stadium was filled to overflowing for all the festivities. In addition the the graduation last night Calaveras High School Principal Mike Merrill announced that he will be moving up to an administrative position in the district office and Ric Stitt the Current Vice Principal will be the new Calaveras High School principal next year. Calaveras Superintendent Jim Frost also mentioned during his comments that they are losing 32 staff members to retirement from the schools within the district. We would like to wish those staff members well as they move onto retirement. Many of the positions being filled are from past Calaveras High School Graduates. The Graduation is enclosed along with the list of Graduates.....

Murphys, CA....Recently the Angels Camp-Murphys Rotary Club recognized some of the finest Law Enforcement and Fire personnel during their monthly meeting. The meeting was held at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys where guests received a lovely lunch provided by the Ironstone staff. Personnel were honored by the Rotary and their departments for going above and beyond and for the protection of their community. It was also said that without the support of their families these heroes wouldn't be able to do such a fantastic job......

San Andreas, CA: Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital has announced they will be hosting a Summer Health Career Camp June 23rd to 27th at the hospital campus in San Andreas. The Camp is open to a maximum of twenty high school juniors and seniors who have a desire to gain more knowledge about careers in health care. The free week-long project includes a complete orientation and tour of the facility, three days of “job shadowing” with hospital staff, networking with hospital staff and leadership at special luncheons, CPR Certification class instruction and a special student/parent graduation luncheon on Friday...

Arnold, CA.....Our community stepped up to bat for Matt on Sunday June 8th. The Day started with a Poker Run in Farmington ending in Arnold. At the same time, many friends and family got together and walked, strolled and even ran a 5k to show their support for Matthew McCullough and his family. After this everyone met at the Cedar Center for a BBQ, Silent auctions with lovely items donated by many local people and businesses, snacks, live music, a dunk tank and more. Matthew was busy playing with his many friends when we stopped by. He looked very good and quite happy. The Cedar Center in Arnold was packed with people showing their support for this lovely boy and his family.....
