Copperopolis, CA....The Copperopolis Community Garden will be doing some weeding this Saturday, January 22nd at noon. Hopefully you can join them and lend a hand - - kids are welcome too! They will also come up with their next formal meeting date at that time. The community garden is the fenced empty lot across the street from the shopping center that contains the IGA Payless Market. Copper Parks & Recreation is planning another flea market for some time in May....

Angels Camp, CA.....Following an exciting JV game that ended with a 2 point victory for the Bears, the varsity Bullfrogs took an early lead in last night's matchup. The second period saw the Frogs staying just ahead of the Bears thanks in part to some excellent teamwork between Bret Harte's Matt Brechtel and Robbie Bragg. As the night went on Summerville pulled slowly ahead, despite a good dose of fancy footwork from Bret Harte's Jordan Gomez and some mighty good shooting by Alex Milward. The Bullfrogs made a strong last minute bid for victory, but the game went to Summerville, 59-54......
During the last 12 months of campaigning, before I took office, it was very obvious that there are numerous inequities in this county, including how and where the money gets spent. This first piece is dealing with the branch library system. Like most other systems the outspoken (squeaky wheel) or (connected) people seem to get what they want at the expense of others getting less than they deserve/need....

The simplest solution it seems would be to divide the $160,290 the county has allocated for the branch libraries by the number of branches, which is 8 and each branch would receive approximately $20,000 to do what they see fit with.
Simplest does not always equal best, so I would like to hear ideas on how we might go about attempting a change towards greater fairness in distribution of funding. I’m listening here on line and in person every Thursday from 12-1 p.m. at the Rancho Calaveras Clubhouse and 2-3 p.m. at Snaps coffee shop in Copper Town Square......

Minor Injury Vehicle vs. Bus Accident in Copperopolis....Updated with CHP Release

Copperopolis, CA....CHP is reporting a non-injury bus vs. vehicle accident at Hwy 4 at O'Byrnes Ferry Road. There were children on the bus. However, no serious injuries are reported per Officer Rebecca Meyers CHP. A vehicle tapped the back of a school bus according to Officer Meyers.
