Calaveras County, Ca...The Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) has just awarded eleven grants for 2014. The combined amount of these grants equals $53,612, and was given in the areas of County Youth K-12, Aging in Place for Seniors, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). These topics represent the initiatives CCF has identified as being instrumental in helping our community. The five members of the Foundation’s Grant Committee received 15 grant applications. A great deal of interest was generated by our 2014 initiatives, resulting in an excellent group of submitted applications for funding....

Angels Camp, CA....Rabobank in Angels Camp was the host business for the June Chamber of Commerce Mixer last night. A good sized group was on hand and Rabobank raised the bar for mixer food as the event was catered by Sidewinders the favorite Angels Camp dining spot. Chamber President Mark Borchin led the event for the Chamber and Angels Camp and Arnold Rabobank manager Jolee Peterson hosted the event. Rabobank also had their district manager on hand for the mixer as well...

Traffic Update...One Way Traffic Controls Through Fire Area |

San Andreas, CA....CHP is reporting that smoke is subsiding and visibility is improving enough for one way traffic controls on Hwy 49 instead of a hard closure.

Fire Update...The Reed Fire Now 45% Contained At 120 Acres |

San Andreas, CA...We just checked in with CAL-FIRE's Lisa Williams and the Reed Fire is now 40% contained and they are making good progress at 90 acres. CHP is reporting one way escorted traffic on Hwy 49 but it should be fully opened as smoke output continues to drop. Some air assets have been released as well. CCWD's Community Relations Manager Joel Metzger was able to get some great shots of the Reed Fire as it got underway. Some of photos taken from the CCWD Headquarters are below....

San Andreas, CA....Forward progress has been stopped; one bulldozer, one water tender and all aircraft have been released. All other crews will remain on scene throughout the night and into tomorrow. Cooperating Agencies: San Andreas Fire, Mokelumne Hill Fire, Central Fire, Foothill Fire, CHP, Calaveras County SO. Current Situation: Highway 49 is open both directions; all road closures lifted at 7:00 PM. Evacuations: All evacuations lifted at 7:00 PM...

Mountain Ranch Structure Fire Turns Deadly |

| Mountain Ranch, CA....Crews were called to a structure fire on Cave City Road at 7:45am yesterday morning. On arrival the structure was 50% involved. The cause of the fire is under investigation and sadly there was one civilian fatality. More to follow as details are released.... |

Mountain Ranch, CA....Central Calaveras Fire and CalFire were dispatched to a possible fire on Cave City Road in Mountain Ranch. CalFire Engine 4473 located a structure on fire in the 8500 block of Cave City Rd. Upon arrival, the structure was 50% involved. Fire crews began controlling the fire and contained the fire to the involved structure. The structure was heavily damaged and 1 civilan fatality was discovered in the fire scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Additional details are enclosed....
