Minor Injuries In Hwy 49 Rear End Collision

San Andreas, CA...A 41 year old Valley Springs man was driving his 2002 GMC northbound on State Route 49, south of Pool Station Road at approximately 25-30 mph and behind a 1994 Toyota. A 21 year old San Andreas woman was driving her Toyota northbound on State Route 49, south of Pool Station Road at approximately 25 mph and beginning to slow to a stop. She came to a stop and was preparing to make a left turn onto Pool Station Road. Due to the Valley Spring man's unsafe speed he was unable to stop. Consequently, the front end of GMC collided with the back end of the Toyota. After the collision both Parties drove to the right shoulder and waited for CHP.

San Andreas, CA....(Results of today's meeting are that none of the agenda items passed. The approach will be to have open public discussion on the proposed ordinance will begin the the next few weeks.) The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors will be back in session tomorrow at 10am for a meeting on whether to adopt a resolution to provide further guidance for this season. Agenda highlights are as follows: Adopt a Resolution to 1) Dissolve the Cannabis Ad Hoc Committee; 2) Adopt the position of Cannabis Control Coordinator; 3) Receive a report from the County Administrative Officer on the Cannabis Control Coordinator and feedback from impacted Departments; and 4) Reaffirm the Board of Supervisors priorities pertaining to the effective and timely implementation of the provisions within the May 10, 2016 Urgency Ordinance, particularly in regard to the processing of cannabis grower permits and abatement of illegal cannabis grows within the County.

San Jose Man Arrested For Felony DUI In Hwy 12 Collision

San Andreas, CA....A San Jose man was traveling westbound on SR-12 east of Double Springs Road at an unknown rate of speed. Due to his intoxication he swerved onto the westbound shoulder, lost control of his Pontiac and it overturned. He was arrested for suspicion of Felony DUI, and both he and his passenger were transported to Mark Twain Medical Center and then life flighted to Modesto for treatment of their injuries.

Violin Virtuoso Kim Angelis To Give Concert in Calaveras County May 13

Rail Road Flat, CA...Back by popular demand, violinist Kim Angelis of Astoria, Oregon will return to her former hometown of Rail Road Flat to give a fundraising performance on Saturday, May 13. The event will be the 8th annual “Tiger Fest,” which is organized by the Friends of Rail Road Flat School, and which each time features a different theme, such as Africa, South of the Border, and Gypsymania. For this year, the theme will be German selected by local chef for the night, Bell Francisco, who was born in Germany. The evening at the Rail Road Flat Community Hall will not only feature an Angelis performance but also a complete dinner with a hearty German flair. Doors open at 5:00 pm for a social hour at the no-host bar, followed by the performance at 6:00 pm. Dinner will be served at intermission.
