Dale Gundy, 57 From Glencoe Lost His Life Yesterday On Hwy 26

Glencoe, CA...Dale Gundy was traveling eastbound on State Route 26 west of Stormy Lane. A Shingle Springs man was traveling westbound on State Route 26, approaching Mr. Gundy's 2003 Mercedes. Mr. Gundy allowed his Mercedes to travel completely into the westbound lane, directly in the path of the oncoming 2014 Ram. The Mercedes and the Dodge Ram collided head-on. Mr. Gundy was extricated from the Mercedes and both occupants of Dodge Ram were able to exit prior to both vehicles catching fire. A large area of grass caught fire as a result. Mr. Gundy was pronounced deceased at the scene. Several fire trucks responded and they were able to extinguish the fire quickly.

San Andreas, CA...Richard was born on July 9, 1945 in San Diego, California. He passed away on May 6th, 2017, at the age of 71 from natural causes. Prior to his death, he resided in Stockton, San Andreas and Valley Springs, California. Richard received all of his training from ARC. He enjoyed fishing and bowling.

Teachers Union Reminds District of Legal Obligation to Negotiate Reduced Class Sizes

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras Unified School District (CUSD) Superintendent Mark Campbell received legal notice reminding him of the district’s obligation to bargain in good faith class size reduction with the Calaveras Unified Educators’ Association (CUEA). Calaveras teachers are at impasse with the district over class size, specifically for transitional kindergarten to third grade. CUEA President Lorraine Angel says the district has failed and refused to address class size as required by state law and has been accepting K-3 Grade Span Adjustment (GSA) monies from the state to reduce class size.

One Way Traffic Control On Hwy 12 From Messing Road to Evans Road For Electrical Work

Calaveras County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform one-way traffic control on eastbound and westbound State Route 12 from Messing Road to Evans Road, west of Valley Springs, for electrical work. Work will begin Monday, May 15, 2017, through Saturday, May 20, 2017, from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Motorists should expect 10-minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.

Violin Virtuoso Kim Angelis To Give Concert in Calaveras County May 13

Rail Road Flat, CA...Back by popular demand, violinist Kim Angelis of Astoria, Oregon will return to her former hometown of Rail Road Flat to give a fundraising performance on Saturday, May 13. The event will be the 8th annual “Tiger Fest,” which is organized by the Friends of Rail Road Flat School, and which each time features a different theme, such as Africa, South of the Border, and Gypsymania. For this year, the theme will be German selected by local chef for the night, Bell Francisco, who was born in Germany. The evening at the Rail Road Flat Community Hall will not only feature an Angelis performance but also a complete dinner with a hearty German flair. Doors open at 5:00 pm for a social hour at the no-host bar, followed by the performance at 6:00 pm. Dinner will be served at intermission.
