Annual County Government Frog Jump Results are In!

San Andreas, CA....The County Government held their Annual Frog Jump Monday afternoon on the Government Center Lawn as an Annual Tradition here in Calaveras County. The Winner of Yesterday's Jump was from Adriane Reimer from the Assessors Office. She was Jockeying "Mean Green Hopping Machine" with a distance of 9' 10". Runner Up by 1/4 of an inch was Kelly Zahniser and "Legs" from Public Works. The complete results are enclosed...

Calaveras County, CA....It’s time to start thinking about the next graduating senior class and their fun and exciting Sober Grad Night Party. Sober Grad Night began at Bret Harte in 1989. Those parents took the idea from Napa High School. Calaveras High joined in the fun in 1992. The purpose of Sober Grad Night is to keep our teenagers in a safe and chemical free environment, while giving them a fun graduation party at the same time. There have been no deaths or seniors....

Some of the agenda items being discussed are a Resolution Item authorizing the Board Chair to execute an agreement for the Federal Apportionment Exchange Program and State Match Fund; A Resolution approving and executing Cooperative Agreement with Cal-Trans for State Route 12/26 intersection; Parcel map for Copper Valley Ranch; A Minute Order authorizing Board Chair to execute a bus purchase; A Public Hearing on establishing new building and planning fees for the CDA; A Study Session at 1:30pm regarding the Sheriff's Operations Staffing Study. The Official Release from The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office on AB 900 Jail Funding.

San Andreas, CA...On May 8, 2008 the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office attended the Corrections Standards Authority Board meeting in Sacramento. The purpose of the meeting was to determine which counties would receive AB 900 funds for local jail construction. The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office came in fourth place of the counties with a population under 200,000. There is a total of $100 million available to counties with a population under 200,000....

San Andreas, CA...Last night the San Andreas Town Hall played host to another Chamber of Commerce & Calaveras Enterprise Calaveras County Supervisor Candidate's Night. This is a race to replace retiring incumbent Supervisor Bill Claudino. The Challengers are Gary Tofanelli, Zerrall McDaniel & Kathy Mazzaffero. It was serious & lighthearted look at todays issues. In addition to the questions you would expect about the State of the County, Economic Development and what they would do to fix X, Y or Z. There was also a tough "What Can I Do About The Pigs In My Neighbor's Yard Question". It was a very well run and moderated event. The Chamber of Commerce handled many of the nuts & bolts portions of the night and Calaveras Enterprise Editor Buzz Eggleston provided the moderation. Our video starts....

San Andreas, CA.....On April 24th, the Calaveras County Deputy Sheriff’s Association sponsored a candidate’s night in San Andreas. This gave each of the candidates an opportunity to express their views for the future of Calaveras County. Based on the responses of the candidates and a discussion that followed at an association meeting the members of the association have voted to endorse Steve Wilensky for District 2 Supervisor.
