Mother Lode League Football Regular Season Winds Down

Sonora, CA...The Bret Harte Bullfrogs traveled to Sonora the Frogs ended up on the smaller side of of a 70-15 final score. Calaveras quieted the roar of the Linden Lions 49-0. Summerville rolled over Amador 35-10. Argonaut ended up on the south end of a non-conference game against Dixon 7-35

San Andreas Home was Vacant During Oct. 26 Fire

San Andreas, CA...No one was home when firefighters were called in the early morning Oct. 26 to extinguish a fire in a two-story residence at 211 W. St. Charles St. in Andreas. San Andreas Fire Protection District Chief Don Young was first to arrive after the fire was reported at 2:42 a.m. Young said he saw “Flame in the basement/garage area and heavy smoke in the upper floor.”

Traffic Update...Fatal Vehicle into Tree Collision Near Michel Road & Mountain Ranch Road.

Mountain Ranch, CA...Just after 3pm this afternoon CHP reported a vehicle vs tree collision near Michel Road & Mountain Ranch Road. Initially a medi-flight was requested and CPR was done but the patient was too severely injured to survive. Our thoughts and prayers are with another family whose lives have taken a tragic turn for the worse this afternoon.

Calaveras Deputies Assist BLM with Marijuana Eradication

Railroad Flat, CA...On 10/31/2017 Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted the Bureau of Land Management and TRIDENT (Tri County Drug Enforcement Team) in serving a search warrant for an illegal marijuana grow near the 2000 block of Independence Cemetery Road, Railroad Flat. After securing the scene law enforcement personnel seized 595 marijuana plants, approximately 400 pounds of processed marijuana and 7 firearms.

San Andreas, CA...We had the honor to be one of the Judges at the Annual Stone Soup festivities at the Government Center. This day and fundraiser for the local food bank was originally promoted by the late Chief Probation Officer Michael Kriletich and former CAO Jennie Boyce. It's goals were to enhance the community spirit and involvement for the county employees and the county as a whole. It has grown into a wonderful institution were the feats of decorating, ingenuity, costume making skills are at times incredible.

San Andreas Woman Arrested for Attempted Murder

San Andreas, CA..On 10-28-2017 at approx. 5:40pm, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 1330 Calaveritas Road in San Andreas, the Oak Shadows Mobile Home Park, for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival deputies learned that there was a domestic dispute between a 50 year old man and the alleged suspect, Carol Soares (age 66), both of whom live at the mobile home park.

Thomas Lloyd Jeffries 1944 - 2017

San Andreas, CA...Thomas Lloyd Jeffries was born on July 12, 1944 in Stockton, California, but if you asked him he'd tell you Tulsa, Okalhoma where his sisters were born. He passed away October 19, 2017 in Sonora, California, family and friends by his side. Tom lived out his life amongst the rolling hills of Calaveras County. A land surveyor for most of his life, hloved the outdoors and brought a unique passion to his work. Tom was a loving friend and father, always willing to help and generous with what he had. He is survived by his children, Greg Jeffries, John Jeffries, Christen Buis, and Caitlyn Jeffries along with his precious grandchildren, Koda Buis and Liam Colvard.

Men's Health is Workshop Focus for the Month of November

San Andreas, CA...Men’s health is the topic of a free workshop on Nov. 9 at Mark Twain Medical Center. “Tackle Your Health” is the theme for the 10 a. m. to noon event focusing on lifestyle and health resources for men. A variety of presenters and health resource organizations will be featured and lunch is included. There is limited seating. Call 754-5919 for reservations and information. “Tackle Your Health” is part of MTMC’s ongoing series of “A Plan 4 Me” free planning workshops. It is co-sponsored by MTMC and the Mark Twain Health Care District. The district is providing a donated San Francisco 49ers DeForest Buckner laser-engraved football valued at $50 to be awarded at the workshop along with “Tackle Your Health” tee-shirts.
