San Andreas, CA...In compliance with Section 15072 of the California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines, notification is hereby given to responsible agencies, trustee agencies, interest groups and the general public that the Calaveras County Department of Public Works proposes to adopt a Mitigated Negative Declaration for the Dogtown Road over Indian Creek Project.

Valley Springs, CA...You are faced with a decision that you, and the County, has been fretting over for more than a year. A decision, at least for elected leaders, is quite simple. You took oaths to uphold federal law. Marijuana, and everything on the Calaveras County list having to do with marijuana, including money laundering, is against federal law.
Distraction From Oversized Load Leads To Rear End Collision

San Andreas, CA...On 06/26/2017 at approximately 0802 hours, Party-1 (Soria) was driving Vehicle-1 (Ford) northbound on SR-49 north of Pool Station Rd. at approximately 35 miles per hour. Party-2 (Scronce) was driving Vehicle-2 (Chrysler) northbound on SR-49 to the front of Vehicle-1. An over-sized vehicle that was traveling southbound in the passing lanes, was being escorted by CHP units with emergency lights activated. Party-1 was looking at the approaching units when traffic proceeding northbound began to slow for the over-sized load. Party-2 began to slow her vehicle. When Party-1 looked forward he noticed Vehicle-2 was slowing. Party-1 applied the vehicle-1's brakes but was unable to stop in time. Subsequently the front of the vehicle-1 struck the rear of vehicle-2.
Major Injuries to Lodi Woman in Motorcycle Collision

Glencoe, CA...A 44 year old Lodi man was riding his 2006 Harley Davidson with his passenger a 39 year old Lodi woman westbound on Hwy 26 near Rich Gulch Road. They entered a left hand curve in the roadway at approximately 30 mph. He failed to safely negotiate the curve and traveled onto the right shoulder where he lost control of the motorcycle and overturned ejecting both rider and passenger. The Lodi woman traveled off a small embankment where she collided with a tree.

Murphys CA...Texas 4000 Riders to Meet Cancer Patients. The Mark Twain Cancer Center will welcome the Texas 4000 to beautiful downtown Murphys Park on the afternoon of Sunday, June 25th. This peloton of University of Texas student/athletes will pedal the brutal 4000 miles from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska to support cancer awareness and prevention. The welcome celebration will include the rider’s sharing tales of their adventure with the audience, and connecting with current oncology patients. Calaveras County Public Health Issues Heat Advisory to Residents

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras County Health and Human Services Agency - Public Health Division continues to issue a heat advisory for the County. We urge the public to act now to prevent heat-related illness. Temperatures of 100 degrees or more will continue over the next several days. Dr. Kelaita, County Health Officer, stated, “Taking action now can prevent the possibility of heat-related illness. Some health conditions such as obesity, fever, dehydration, heart disease, poor circulation, sunburn and drug/alcohol use can make it harder for the body to stay cool in hot weather.”
