Mountain Ranch, CA...Spring Fling at the Mountain Ranch Community Hall, April 8, 2017. Doors open 5:00 PM Dinner 6:00 PM Entertainment 7-9:00 PM Everything is coming up daisies as we gear up for our first fundraiser of the year.
This event will be entertaining and lots of fun.


The Northern California Brothers (NCB) winners of "Calaveras has Talent" will be on stage. You can put on your dancing shoes, you'll love the music. We have some fabulous door prizes, and will have a silent auction too. No host bar available featuring, wine, beer, soda, water & coffee. To top it all off, serving for dinner : Baked Potato Bar with everything imaginable for toppings salad and garlic bread for the small cost of $20.00. Children under 8 years old $5.00. Reservations would be appreciated to help us know what to purchase; call 754-5360. All net proceeds will benefit our non-profit Community Hall for operating expenses.
04/29/2017 - Shakespeare On The Vine Theatre Company’s Annual Spring Gala
Douglas Flat, CA...The Shakespeare on the Vine Theatre Company is proud to partner with Brice Station Vineyards for their third season. In the summer of 2017 the company will launch a new theatre education program for local youth and present William Shakespeare’s brilliant tragedy, Hamlet – under the direction of the company’s Artistic Director, Tara Kayton, and starring Sean M. Lewis as the title character. Hamlet runs July 20-August 19 at Brice Station.


On Saturday, April 29, 2017 the company will host their 3rd annual Spring Gala at Ayreal Vieux Winery located at 1690 Monge Road, Douglas Flat from 1:00pm – 5:00pm. The European countryside picnic will serve delicious cuisine provided by V Restaurant with multiple wine pairings from Ayreal Vieux. The silent auction promises to include artwork, vacation packages, and beautiful gifts from all over California. The talented Jill Warren will play music for the event and actors will be there to answer questions about the theatre and show.

The gala costs $75 and includes the wine, food, and will support this summer’s production of Hamlet and the newly announced theatre education program for local youth.

04/22/2017 - Hop, Skip, Jump, Run, Walk For Autism Awareness!
Murphys, CA...April 22nd, Saturday from 8-11 Mind Matters is holding its 6th Annual Off the Beaten Path, Walk/Run for Autism Awareness, A Mind Matters Fund Raiser! This is a fun activity for people of all ages. The event starts in beautiful Murphys Park where we will have music, warm-up group exercises, and face-painting for children and those young at heart! You can walk or run [or hop, skip & jump!] for the 5K distance, but, the 10K will be a timed race. There will be awards for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place for each age group; female and male. Age groups are 0-19 years, 20-39 years, 40-59 years, and 60 years and over.


Cost is $30 for those 8 years old and up [7 & under free]. The first 100 paid registrants are guaranteed a t-shirt. The sizes to choose from are M, L, or XL and are a unisex style. Sonora, CA...Save the date! MOtherlode Area Derby is pleased to announce our first co-ed game of the 2017 season! Our Skeleton Crew will be battling the NorCal Vigilantes on March 25th at 6:30 pm at the High Country Sports Arena. Not only is there awesome roller derby action, we have a half time show, raffles, food, drinks, beer and merchandise for purchase to support your favorite league!

04/08/2017 - Columbia College Free Financial Aid Workshop
Sonora, CA...The Columbia College Financial Aid Office invites the community to a free workshop to learn about Financial Aid for college on Saturday, April 8 between 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Starbucks conference room located in the Sonora Junction shopping center at 13761 Mono Way, Sonora. The workshop is open to all and no appointment is necessary.


Financial Aid professionals will be available to answer questions and provide one-on-one assistance to complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. Undocumented students will receive assistance completing the Dream Act Application.

To complete the applications, current and prospective students will need to bring the following materials: Social Security Card or Alien registration number, if you have one; 2015 federal income tax forms or any 2015 income data collected for student and parents/guardians, such as W2 forms or year-end pay stubs, if you have not yet filed a 2015 tax return; Records of untaxed income, if applicable; List of colleges you are interested in attending.

If you are a dependent student, then you will also need to provide most of the above information from your parents.
