Angels Camp, CA...Angels Camp held their City Council meeting tonight. The City Council passed the first two of possibly three measures that will allow for rate increases to compensate the vendor SEI for their significantly increased costs due to the rapidly rising fuel costs....

Calaveras County, CA....The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will intermittently close State Route 4 (SR-4) from Rolleri Bypass Road to Six Mile Creek/Six Mile Road in Calaveras County. Work will occur on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Crews will be clearing boulders for the construction of the bypass.......

Quad Accident Sends 12 Year Old Martinez Resident to UC Davis. |

Angels Camp, CA...The Martinez 12 year old was traveling at a high rate of speed on Shetland and lost control of his quad. The quad overturned several times before coming to a stop. The accident embedded the right hand brake handle into his lower right arm. He was flown to UC Davis for treatment of his wounds. The report is enclosed... |

When I heard about the carnival ride accident at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds, many emotions arose and many things went through my head. At first I was shocked and angry and I hurt for the kids involved, their parents, the onlookers, people in the community and even the ride operators themselves. I also had many questions, especially hoping that no one I knew personally was hurt. How could a tragedy like this ever happen? .....

Carnival Rides to Remain Closed Today |

Angels Camp, CA...We just received an update call from Sgt. Dave Seawell confirming that the carnival rides will remain closed today at the Calaveras County Fair. OSHA and local personnel are inspecting the rides to find out what may have caused the accident last evening. There still is still a possibility that rides may open tomorrow. We will keep you posted as we know more.

Angels Camp, CA... A thrill ride at the Calaveras County Fair collapsed on Friday evening sending 23 fairgoers to area hospitals. At approx. 6:05 pm the Calaveras County Sheriffs Department Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call reporting that a ride had collapsed injuring numerous persons. This is the first known accident of this type in the history of the Calaveras County Fair..... |
