San Andreas, CA...On the morning of April 9, 2018 the Sheriff’s Office learned that Calaveras County school officials in the Calaveras and Bret Hart Unified School Districts received an email from an unknown person who threatened to bring a gun to school to harm students and staff.

Mark Charles Jacobson 1952 - 2018, Veteran, Teacher & Man of Faith |

San Andreas, CA...Mark Charles Jacobson was born on August 12, 1952 in Janesville, Wisconsin to Gordon Charles Jacobson and Norma Ellis Jacobson. Mark passed away at the age of sixty-five on March 30th, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. Mark grew up with his mother and father in Janesville, Wisconsin. After earning his high school degree in 1970, Mark left his hometown to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Mark graduated in 1974 with a degree in Management. Upon graduation his first assignment was in Sacramento, CA where he met his wife Linda. Throughout his career he was stationed in a wide variety of locations including Georgia, Washington D.C., Southern California, and England. In 1979 while in the military, Mark completed a Master's Degree in Logistics Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology. After twenty-two years of service, Mark retired in 1996 as a Lieutenant Colonel and moved to his wife's hometown San Andreas, California.

Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office Believes Local School Threat Email Part of Larger Hoax |

Sonora, CA...This afternoon our office became aware of a email sent to all school districts in Tuolumne County. Through the investigation we have learned multiple schools throughout the state have received the email from a hacking group somewhere in the UK, referencing threats to schools. This email has gone viral and is believed to be a hoax.

Hosted by John Krutsinger of Edward Jones in Murphys, the event partners with three community non-profits; Hospice of Amador & Calaveras, Mark Twain Medical Center Foundation (MTMCF), and Mind Matters. Ageless – A Prescription for Healthy Aging by Robert Pokorski, MD will be held on Tuesday, April 3rd, 12 noon at MTMCF, 768 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas. Sacramento, CA....Americans Against Gun Violence is pleased to announce that we’re sponsoring an essay contest open to all U.S. high school students. The prompt for the contest is a statement made by the late Senator Thomas Dodd of Connecticut in a speech on the floor of the U.S. Senate on June 11, 1968. He said: The time has now come that we must adopt stringent gun control legislation comparable to the legislation in force in virtually every civilized country in the world.

The guide is designed to help schools better understand protections that safeguard the privacy of undocumented students and their families, and to serve as a model for local school districts.
