Yosemite, CA...A series of rockfalls occurred yesterday afternoon from the Southeast face of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. Seven rockfalls occurred over a four-hour time span, with the initial rockfall happening at 1:52 P.M. Pacific Daylight Time. A preliminary estimate for the cumulative volume of all seven rockfalls is about 16,000 cubic feet (450 cubic meters), or about 1,300 tons. The irregular "sheet" of rock that fell is estimated to be 130 feet tall, 65 feet wide, and 3-10 feet thick. The source point is about 650 feet above the base of El Capitan, or about 1,800 feet above the floor of Yosemite Valley (which is at 4,000 feet in elevation).

Time to Get Serious About the Importance of Healthy Eating ~ Dr. Athena Taylan

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/28/2017 02:55 PM
San Andreas, CA...While diet fads come and go, the best practice for healthy living is rooted in something we heard as children from our parents: eat fruits and vegetables. It is as true today as it was a generation ago: Fruits and vegetables lead to a healthier lifestyle. September is “Fruits and Veggies: More Matters Month” – a national call to action designed to encourage Americans to eat more fruits and veggies. According to the Centers for Disease Control, more than 12.7 million children and adolescents ages 2-19 are obese, and a contributing factor is unhealthy eating habits.

Call now 209/754-0127 or visit https://calaveraswinealliance.ticketspice.com/grape-stomp-entry-form to register your team and celebrate one of the most anticipated events in the region, drawing large, loud crowds and scores of stomp teams, many festooned in original costume. If coming in costume, you must register in costume but you need not stomp in costume. Costumes are judged on originality, workmanship, etc. Registration entry fee is $70 per team of two. Besides partaking of the usual great food, wine, Raffle Tickets for either a New Zealand or Australia Wine Experince will be sold all day and a silent auction takes place throughout the day, with live auction on stage, Stomp goers witnessed another fierce competition between teams vying for the title of the Calaveras Grape Stomp Champion. Stomp Teams are composed of two persons, one inside a half barrel filled with 25 pounds of grapes, another outside the barrel reaching in to ensure a smooth flow of juice out the drain spot. It's a sticky business for all concerned. (A few photos & video from last year to get you in the mood)
