The 2016 Arnold Independence Day Parade. A Mile Of Small Town Americana!

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/08/2016 09:04 AM
Arnold, CA...The Greater Arnold Business Association along with many members of the community hosted another great Arnold Independence Day Parade. 4th of July weekend in Arnold is something not to be missed. The whole, little, mountain town is decorated in red, white & blue and the parade and other events renew one's faith in our communities and our 240 year old experiment as the world's greatest democratically elected, representative republic. There were many highlights of the parade but one special one is this year's parade marked the last the Cal-Fire's Nancy Longmore will be a participant in an official manner. She is retiring from Cal-Fire and will be missed.

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/07/2016 08:08 PM
Arnold, CA...(Update as of 9:45am Tuesday morning. Thank You!!! As of right now our first show has had 15,368 Views!!) Tonight is the Premier of "The One Percent" it gets its name from the USDA Study that ranked all 3,111 counties in the lower 48 based on the "natural amenities index". The index hopes to be "a measure of the physical characteristics of a county area that enhance the location as a place to live." Calaveras came in as the 14th ranked county in the whole nation. Our neighbors to the south, north and east all ranked high but came in just a bit lower than Calaveras. So if you average our the counties in our coverage area they all score in the top one percent of places to live in the US.

Murphys, CA...A cross section of Murphys “celebrities” will be carted off to jail and will have to rely on the generosity of others to gain their release as part of the newly reconstituted Murphys Homecoming, Saturday, July 16. It has been a long time since the Gold Rush era Pokey, the historic building adjacent to the Community Park, has had an occupant. This will all change when the 68th Homecoming is staged.

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/02/2016 11:45 AM
Vallecito, CA...For those who like their half marathons with plenty of scenery, AND elevation (not to mention some outstanding wine tasting afterwards), be sure to put Sunday July 3 down on your calendar for the 29th annual Hernia Hill Half Marathon at Twisted Oak Winery. Produced by On Your Mark Events, this exciting race, as well as its popular post-race lunch, has become a mid Sierra area Fourth of July holiday weekend tradition—for both the locals and those who travel in from throughout California and Nevada. Along with the half marathon, the Hernia Hill event also provides a 10K Run and 5K Run/Walk. In addition, there is the famous Rubber Chicken 5K Relay. Teams of four people will hand off a special rubber chicken, as the baton (that's 1.25k per runner).
