Overnight Storm Closes Passes! Drive Carefully & Carry Chains |

Arnold, CA....Yesterday morning we drove over Ebbetts Pass and returned after Midnight over Hwy 88. With the storm door starting to crack open we hope for moisture's sake it was our last trip till spring. We we passed back over Carson Pass we were pushing over a foot of snow between Kirkwood & Silver Lake. More moisture is on the way later in the week as well. Maybe just maybe we can start putting another fire season in the rear view mirror. The latest road conditions are below....

Murphys, CA...The producers of the 5th Annual Murphys Witch Walk are proud to announce the costume festival will take place Saturday, October 16, 2021, from noon to 8 pm on Main Street, Fun for the whole coven, be ready to eat, drink, shop, and enjoy Main Street Murphys, but be sure to dress to impress as your best Witch of Eastwick, Harry Potter character, Maleficent, sorcerers Saruman or Gandalf, Winifred, Sarah or Mary, the witches of MacBeth or the Good Witch of the North or the Wicked Witch of the East, or whatever other fascinating fantastical mystical character you can conjure. And bring your diminutive witches, mini warlocks and assorted flying monkeys with you, because this is a family-friendly event.

Mountain Ranch, CA…In 1950, we started out as a family operation with Erich’s father and mother, August and Freida Sender, in a century-old adobe building. The upstairs was home to the Sender family, and the first floor included groceries, a meat market, a bar, and a small eating place called Opa’s Smokehouse. On Christmas morning in 1968, the old store was destroyed by fire. But in June 1969, Sender’s Market, Inc. was opened. Since that time, there have been many changes, including remodeling, expansion, and the addition of many employees. That’s also when we added the truss plant and purchased Sender’s Market Ace Hardware in Valley Springs. Today, we’re still family owned and still working hard to stock everything from pantry essentials to power tools. Mad River, CA...After almost a year of planning, the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree, an 84-foot white fir nicknamed “Sugar Bear,” will be harvested from the Six Rivers National Forest in a virtual ceremony on Oct. 24, 2021 at 10 AM.
