Long Live The King, King McPherson that is!! Happy 104th Birthday!!! |
Posted by: thepinetree on 03/18/2021 12:33 PM

Angels Camp, CA...It is not everyday you get a parade, live music & more on your birthday but yesterday was no ordinary birthday for King McPherson. You see, King was born on March 17th, 1917 in Los Angeles. He is 104 and sharp as a tack. (We even heard a rumour he has a new girlfriend). If your attributes of the ideal man include caring for his community and community service Kimg is your man. The Angels-Murphys Rotarian and Sgt of Arms joined Rotary in 1943 and until Covid he went 78 years without ever missing a meeting. Yes that's right he went longer than most people's entire life span without missing a meeting. That by itself deserves a parade.

California’s woman veterans are part of a long and proud legacy of military service. Throughout the years, women went to great lengths to serve alongside their male counterparts. Historically, many disguised themselves by dressing as men, leaving behind their homes and families to pledge their lives and allegiance to this nation. Women sacrificed so much to serve their country, yet far too often, they have done so without the recognition and gratitude they deserve.

Celebrate a Happy Saint Patrick’s Day with Beer Batter Gingerbread Cake! ~ Jenny Baxter Jenny’s Kitchen |

Angels Camp, CA...Margaret Mary Cairns, my paternal grandmother, was born and raised in Ireland. She began working in a tartan factory at age eight or nine and when she married, she used this skill to make clothing for her eight children and bring in a little money from sewing for others. She married at a young age, and when her husband, my grandfather, Gavin Baxter, came to the United States, she stayed behind to raise their one daughter until he could find employment and earn enough money to send for them. This lasted ten years!

Plymouth, MA...Today marks an historic milestone. Its story is a real-life adventure marked by what some regard as pure luck while others label as miraculous. Four hundred years ago—on March 16, 1621—an English-speaking Indian from the Abenaki tribe strode into the new settlement of Plymouth in present-day Massachusetts. He greeted the astonished Pilgrims and requested a beverage brewed from fermented cereal grains.
