Columbia, CA...Columbia College held a Community Job Fair that was cosponsored with Mother Lode Job Training. The event hosted 66 employers and that filled the Oak Pavilion April 5 at Columbia College. In talking to several of the organizations there it seemed the only thing missing was waves of job seekers. They felt there may be several reasons for this. Many young kids graduating from our local schools wanted to explore the outside world for at least a few years before possibly returning home. It also creates opportunities for those wishing to move here. There are many, many job openings in our area. Some required a college degree but many of the openings did not...

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! 4″ of new snow this morning at 5am as the system looks to be winding down. Today we’ll see a chance of snow mostly before 11am and winds decreasing to 5-11mph out of the SSW in the a.m. and shifting to the Northwest in the afternoon.Things are looking fairly clear into Friday as high pressure returns and the weekend has unsettled weather possibly but that’s still far out there and things are trending drier at this time. Don’t forget about our 2 tickets for $99 every Tuesday and 50% off lift tickets for students and Emergency Responders. And this Friday the 19th is SKI FOR FREE FRIDAY! Some Seasonal Roads on Stanislaus National Forest will Remain Closed Past April 15

Sonora, CA...Stanislaus National Forest will open seasonal roads beginning April 15, but some forest roads will remain closed until forest crews can inspect them to ensure they were not damaged during this year’s winter storms. Jason Kuiken, Stanislaus National Forest supervisor, said workers haven’t been able to inspect all the forest roads yet because many are still covered with snow. A series of heavy storms during the 2018-2019 winter led to significant snow levels on all ranger districts.
Calaveras County Releases General Plan Update Final EIR

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Planning Department is pleased to announce the release of the long-awaited Final Environmental Impact Report for the General Plan update. The FEIR has been posted on the Department website: http://planning.calaverasgov.us/GP-Update. Hard copies and CDs will be available for purchase at the Planning Department office once printing has been completed during the week of April 15-19. A copy for public review will also be available during the normal business hours of the Department, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC), founded in 1951, is located at 768 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas, CA. It became a member of Dignity Health, formerly Catholic Healthcare West, in 1996. The facility is a not-for-profit, 25-bed Critical Access Hospital serving all of Calaveras County, California. Over 300 employees provide the necessary services.
Sonora, CA...The Home & Garden Show is finishing the 2019 run today at the Mother Lode Fairground in Sonora.
