San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center presents the 21st Annual Fall Health Fair on Saturday, September 28 from 7 a.m. to noon at the Hospital Campus in San Andreas. “Participation in this event is just as enthusiastic now as it was when we started over two decades ago,” notes Doug Archer, MTMC President and CEO. “It’s a tradition – a great opportunity to find out about the latest in local resources for health care, wellness and social services.” He explains this Health Fair includes an especially wide-range of health and wellness professionals, nonprofit entities, and government agencies that collaborate in providing education, support services and lifestyle tools to the local community.

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Health Care District is a generous financial supporter of the Oct. 24 Steps to Kick Cancer awareness event at Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC). Additional community partners are Sierra Pacific Industries and the Calaveras Cancer Support Group Fund of the Calaveras Community Foundation.
The luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the meal catered by MTMC’s popular Carmen’s Cafe. Seating is limited and reservations are required; call 754-5919 now.

The event also features vintage trailers, housecars, antique trucks and motorcycles, race cars and wooden boats. Honored guests from the old-car hobby and the auto industry regularly participate.

This is always our favorite weekend of the year in Murphys) Best of Show for 2018 on went to a Beautiful 1928 Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8 Castagna Cabriolet at Ironstone Concours d'Elegance. The Stevens Family from San Francisco are the proud owners. In a show that seems to get better every year as this year drew over 400 priceless rolling works of art and history to the stunning backdrop of Ironstone Vineyards. Below are photos of some of the winners and if you click on any of the images it will take you to a post with larger images in a slideshow as well. We also have video of the full awards ceremony as we have been doing since 2006 for this event.

Murphys, CA...We stopped by DEA Bathroom Machineries yesterday and in addition to all the classic & historic plumbing supplies they also have perfect, common sense, easy to deploy Wildfire protection tools. Tom Scheller showed us several options including the W.A.S.P. Fire protection system. The W.A.S.P. Wildfire Protection Kit installs either on your ridge ends or clips directly onto your gutter. It will fit on either OG or Facia gutter styles. The kit comes with 2-25 foot industrial quality hoses, two sprinkler heads, two gutter mounts, and two ridge end clips. Basically, you can quickly clip these onto your ridge or gutter using a piece of 3/4″ PVC (not supplied), turn them on, and have your roof soaked to help prevent ignition during fires. Depending on water pressure, these can have up to a 34′ radius.

Murphys, CA..."The Mark Twain Health Care District hosted a Pot Luck today to raise awareness for Fall Prevention.
Today is National Fall Prevention Day, and "Stay Vertical, Calaveras" participants practiced Tai Chi and had lunch at Murphys Park. Participants from all over the county attended to learn more about the very popular Tai Chi for Fall Prevention classes."

San Andreas, CA...Meet Amigo, a Queensland Heeler mix, estimated to be about two years of age. A happy and handsome fellow, his eyes will melt your heart. No matter what is going on in Amigo’s world, his tail is always wagging and he’s ready for his next adventure. The people who found him reported that he played well with their dog but chased their cats, so a feline-free home would be best. A delightful pup with lots of potential, Amigo has made good progress learning to walk in a harness though would benefit from obedience training. We are confident his leash manners will continue to improve away from the distractions of the shelter.
