Orchestra World Premiere at Bear Valley Music Festival

Bear Valley, CA...Maestro Michael Morgan opens the symphonic portion of the Festival with a brand new work titled “Bear Valley Suite for Orchestra” by Bay Area composer Michael Taylor. The program also includes the Serenade No. 2 in A, Op. 16, by Johannes Brahms. Michael Taylor has been composing and arranging music for more than twenty years. He has also composed art songs for piano and voice, liturgical pieces including a Seven Last Words, several musicals and hundreds of arrangements for choir and orchestra. Having conducted and stage directed over fifty fully staged operas and operettas, he is also an active classical vocalist with a long list of leading roles with opera companies and symphonies all around the state.
A Busy Homecoming Weekend Filled Murphys Community Park

Murphys, CA...There was be something entertaining for each and every member of the family during the multi-faceted Murphys Homecoming Weekend centered around the cool environs of the Murphys Community Park. The park activities included the Murphys Old Timers Museum’s 70th Birthday Celebration on Friday, the traditional Murphys Homecoming on Saturday, and the Murphys School of Music’s Music Fest on Sunday. The 2019 Columbia Big Band Street Dance Had Columbia Swinging on Saturday Night

Columbia, CA...Columbia was filled with celebrants who put on their dancing shoes to enjoy a night of swing music in Columbia State Historic Park! Some were dressed in everday clothes, or many came decked out in their snazziest 1940s outfits. Either way they had a blast moving to the music of the Columbia College Kicks Big Band. Prizes were awarded for best '40s outfit, best dancing couples, and much more. We have photos and video to help you step back into the 1940s and put on your dancing shoes to boogie down to the music of Rod Harris and his orchestra. He has sold 40 million albums while scoring numerous platinum albums worldwide, nine top forty singles in the U.S. and 10 in the U.K. including “Dancing With Myself, “White Wedding,” “Rebel Yell,” “Mony Mony,” “Eyes Without A Face,” “Flesh For Fantasy,” and “Cradle Of Love.” It was another great show in a great venue.
