TRAFFIC NEWS....Multiple Vehicle Spin Outs Due to Icy Conditions

Big Trees, CA....We are reporting that multiple vehicles have spun out due to icy conditions between Big Trees and Arnold on Hwy 4 at the 4pm hour. There are no injuries, but it looked liked there are some significant amounts of bent sheet metal. Please use caution in the area as the roads are icy and also emergency crews are on scene. As always avoid using your brakes when descending on slick conditions.

If you choose to drink and drive this holiday season, those flashing red lights in your rear-view mirror won’t belong to a red-nosed reindeer, but to a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer’s vehicle. In an effort to keep California’s roads safe, every available CHP officer will be out on the road during the upcoming Christmas Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP) which begins Wednesday, December 24 at 6 p.m. and continues through midnight, Sunday, December 28.....

Jamestown Business Robbery Still Under Investigation....Updated with Sketch of Supect

Jamestown, CA....Detectives have been diligently working on this case. They have been Canvassing the Jamestown area for additional leads. On December 20, 2008, A Composite Sketch of the suspect was completed. The suspect is described as a white male adult, 5’-10”, 160 lbs, Brown hair Flannel shirt with red and gray pattern, dark blue ball cap. The suspect had a thin/frail build and had a very offensive odor.....SUMMARY: On December 18, 2008, at approximately 5:50 PM, Tuolumne County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to a possible Robbery and a fire at a business in the 10000 block of Highway 108, Jamestown CA.....

Two in Custody, Investigation on-Going for Robbery In Columbia

Columbia, CA....On December 7, 2008, at approximately 9 PM, Deputies were called to the Columbia College Apartments for a reported Robbery. When Deputies arrived, they spoke with a Victim who said four subjects came to his apartment to purchase cigarettes. When the victim went to get the cigarettes, one of the suspects grabbed the victim and demanded his money. Another suspect brandished a handgun at the victim. The suspects took off with an undisclosed amount of cash.....

Domestic Violence Arrest in Sonora

Sonora, CA.....On December 8, 2008 at approximately 10:30 PM, Deputy Derocher, Brouillette and Champlin were dispatched to a reported assault involving a firearm. When Deputies arrived, they spoke with the victim. The victim reported that her estranged husband returned to her residence and assaulted her and then threatened her with a gun. The Suspect was located at another residence nearby and was arrested....

Columbia, CA....On December 9, 2008, Deputy Gempler and Cpl. Nikiforuk responded to a reported assault at a residence on Woods Creek Way, Columbia. Upon their arrival, they located the victim who had been assaulted. The victim said he was assaulted by one of the suspects and the suspects took his guitars from his residence......

Furlough forces Closure of the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office during the Holiday’s

The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office will be closed starting Wednesday December 24th through Friday January 2nd. This is due to the furlough process that is being implemented throughout the County due to budgetary constraints. The services that will be affected are Civil/Coroner, Public Records Request, Concealed Weapons Permits, Administration and other non-emergency services.......

CHP is reporting a solo vehicle has overturned at Burson Road in Burson. Emergency crews are responding. We will keep you updated as needed. There did end up being a moderate injury to an Ione woman. CHP Release enclosed.
