Sonora Man Arrested for Choking Step Father Unconscious

Sonora, CA...From the Sonora Police Dept..."25-year-old Anthony R. Clark-Garcia of Sonora was arrested Saturday morning for felony battery. At around 8:45 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, May 9th, officers were called to a disturbance at the Roadway Inn. The disruption, which turned out to be a physical fight between Clarke-Garcia and his step-father, had ended prior to our arrival.

California State Parks Closes Manresa State Beach after Fatal Shark Attack

Santa Cruz, CA...California State Parks responded to a shark attack incident at Manresa State Beach, one mile south of the main parking lot. At around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, a 26-year old male was surfing when he was attacked by an unknown shark species. The victim was pronounced dead on scene. The next of kin was notified by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Department.

Judge Holds Landowner Liable for Cannabis Cultivation-Related Environmental Crimes

Sacramento, CA...A California judge recently ordered a Calaveras County property owner liable for damages after their tenant committed environmental crimes in conjunction with a cannabis operation. Poorly designed culvert impacts fish and wildlife downstream. Under Fish and Game Code section 12025, civil penalties can be levied against a landowner or occupant who has violated one or more environmental laws in conjunction with commercial cannabis cultivation. The code applies to both licensed and unlicensed operations and the civil penalties are added to any criminal fines. Elvis Ky Decision

Update on Vehicle Pursuit Involving Covid-19 Released Inmate

Valley Springs, CA...On May 8th, 2020, Calaveras County Deputies arrested Brian Dehart in San Andreas. Due to the COVID $0 bail order still in effect, Dehart was set to be booked and released back into the public. Deputies believed Dehart posed a significant danger to the public due to the multiple pending cases against him and the recent vehicle pursuit. The threat to public safety caused the deputies to file a request for bail increase (PC1269) thus, forcing Dehart to post bail prior to his release. The order to increase bail was approved by the Superior Court Judge Healy. Dehart remains in the Calaveras County Jail with a $350,000 Bail.

Jamestown Man Arrested After Major Injury DUI Traffic Collision with Grass Fire

Jamestown, CA...On May 8, 2020 at approximately 3:45pm, 56-year-old Scott Oliver of Jamestown was driving his Ford Ranger Pickup eastbound on State Route 120, east of State Route 49 at a high rate of speed. He failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway and lost control of his vehicle. As a result, the vehicle overturned and collided with a power pole. After colliding with the power pole, the vehicle caught fire with Mr. Oliver trapped inside. A good Samaritan observed the vehicle on fire and was able to assist him out of the driver seat. Mr. Oliver sustained major injuries and was transported by air ambulance to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Sonora Police Make Arson Arrest

Sonora, CA...From the Sonora Police Dept..."Early this morning, 39-year-old Tyler B. Schuster was arrested for committing arson during the State of Emergency. At around 2:30 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, April 25th, while patrolling the City, one of our officers noticed flame coming from the fencing on the south side of Wrights Tire. The officer was able to extinguish the small fire, which was determined to be a burning “No Trespassing” sign affixed to the fence.

Kern Valley State Prison Officials Investigate the Death of an Inmate as a Homicide

Delano, CA...Officials at Kern Valley State Prison (KVSP) are investigating the May 1 death of 50-year-old inmate Robert Beltran as a homicide. Last Friday at approximately 7:48 a.m., correctional officers responded when inmates Charles Garibay, Rafael Navarro and Guillermo Navarro began attacking Beltran with inmate-manufactured weapons as he exited his cell on Facility A. The officers verbally ordered them to stop their actions without compliance, necessitating the use of chemical agents, which quelled the assault.

California Medical Facility in Vacaville Investigating Inmate Death as a Homicide

Vacaville, CA...California Medical Facility prison officials are investigating the death of an inmate as a homicide after the victim was discovered unresponsive in his cell with multiple injuries. On April 30, 2020, at approximately 4:30 p.m. an officer conducting an inmate count found 75-year-old Tuc X. Tran unresponsive in his cell with multiple injuries to his head and face. The officer immediately called for medical response and additional staff, suspecting Tran was attacked by his cellmate.

Tuolumne County Man Implicated in Homicide at High Desert State Prison

Susanville, CA...Officials at High Desert State Prison (HDSP) are investigating the May 1 death of 65-year-old Michael M. Ramadanovic as a homicide. Last Friday at approximately 10:45 a.m. inmates Rodney Rice and Robert Smith attacked Ramadanovic with inmate-manufactured weapons on the Facility C yard. Officers immediately responded by using chemical agents and issuing a warning shot from the Mini-14 rifle and to quell the incident.
