Oroville, CA...North Zone: From Lee Summit to Claremont Peak, the fire remains in the current footprint. Crews are engaged with tactical firing operations near Lookout Rock and reinforcing structure protection in the Bucks Lake, Haskins, and Highlands areas. Crews are prepping existing roads and building dozer lines to tie in with old fire scars and contingency lines from the Camp Fire. This will eventually tie in with Highway 70 north of Elephant Butte.

Forest Service Temporarily Closes All National Forests in California |

Vallejo, CA...Due to unprecedented and historic fire conditions throughout the state, the USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region is announcing a temporary closure of an additional ten National Forests, meaning all eighteen National Forests in California are now closed. The closure of the additional ten forests will be effective at 5:00 pm today. These additional forests include the Eldorado National Forest, Klamath National Forest, Lassen National Forest, Mendocino National Forest, Modoc National Forest, Six Rivers National Forest, Plumas National Forest, Shasta-Trinity National Forest, Tahoe National Forest, and Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. This decision will be re-evaluated daily as conditions change.

Deceased Party Found Behind White Pines Park "No Immediate Indications of a Crime" According to CCSO |

Arnold, CA...There was sad news of a deceased party found behind White Pines Park over the weekend. There were no immediate indications of foul play. With notifications that law enforcement needed to be make to family members etc we didn't report on this before now. From the CCSO Office..."The detectives were called out and began an in-depth investigation.The person was found with no immediate indications of a crime. Investigation Is continuing, including autopsy and toxicology."

Stabbing & Robbery on Washington Street Sunday Evening |

Sonora, CA...On 09-06-2020, at around 2329 hours, Officers were dispatched to a report of a stabbing on S. Washington St.. Officers arrived on scene and contacted the victim who had suffered a stab wound to his right shoulder area. The victim was transported to a local hospital by ambulance for non life threatening injuries.

Emergency Camping Prohibition on the Eldorado National Forest |

Placerville, CA...In addition to the emergency closures and the fire ban announced for California national forests earlier today, the Eldorado National Forest is one of 5 forests Northern California included in Regional Order No. 20-09 which was issued this evening, and prohibits all camping except in wilderness areas and within 500 feet of the Pacific Crest Trail. This order is effective beginning Tuesday, September 8, 2020, for the Eldorado National Forest, Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, Lassen National Forest, Plumas National Forest, and Tahoe National Forest.

Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Community Outreach Neighborhood Watch Meeting |

Arnold, CA...*Prior to the meeting, the Sheriff’s Office had a lengthy discussion with Neighborhood Watch coordinators to ensure precautions were in place to ensure social distancing was respected. When social distancing was not possible, masks were to be utilized. The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office was asked to attend a Neighborhood Watch Meeting on August 30th, 2020, outside in the driveway of a residence in Blue Lake Springs. Topics included how to organize a neighborhood watch group, security cameras, home alarms, exterior lighting, securing yard equipment, what to do in a fire evacuation, ensuring to lock doors and windows, not opening the door for someone you don't know, the use of automatic timers to turn on the lights when you and your family aren't home, and other basic home security measures.

68 Year Old Modesto Man Perished in Motorcycle vs Big Rig Collision on Hwy 120 |

Jamestown, CA...On September 5, 2020, at approximately 11:50AM a 68-year-old male from Modesto, CA stopped his 1999 Harley Davidson Motorcycle on the north shoulder of eastbound State Route 120, west of Green Springs Road to assist a disabled motorcycle. After assisting the disabled motorcycle, the rider started his motorcycle and entered the eastbound lanes of State Route 120. At that same time, 63-year-old Erik Roen of Knights Ferry, CA was driving his 2012 Kenworth Big Rig, while pulling a flatbed trailer carrying a bulldozer, eastbound on State Route 120, west of Green Springs Road in the #2 lane. The motorcycle rider traveled into the #2 lane directly in front of the Big Rig. As a result, the front of the Big Rig crashed into the motorcycle.
