Domestic Violence Investigation Leads to Officer Involved Shooting and Hostage Situation

San Andreas, CA...On May 6, 2021, at about 10:39 PM the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Communication/Dispatch Center received a 911 call regarding a male and female in an argument at the Sierra Inn Motel, San Andreas California. The reporting party stated a male pointed a firearm at the female victim's head. Deputies were dispatched to investigate however, the suspect left before their arrival.

Attorney General Bonta to Accelerate Release of Peace Officer Use-of-Force and Misconduct Records

Sacramento, CA...In an effort to increase transparency, California Attorney General Rob Bonta today announced steps that the California Department of Justice (DOJ) is taking to accelerate the release of third-party peace officer use-of-force and misconduct records — covered under Senate Bill 1421 — in DOJ's possession. Today’s announcement comes as part of a court-approved agreement with the First Amendment Coalition and KQED to complete, by September 26, 2021, DOJ's review, redaction, and production of requested, written records. As part of that process, DOJ will continue to work with the First Amendment Coalition, KQED, and the San Francisco Superior Court to ensure that responsive, non-exempt records are released in a timely fashion, while keeping important safeguards — including those that are meant to protect witnesses — in place.

Isidro Jimenez of Jamestown Arrested for Sexual Crimes Against a Child

Jamestown, CA...Yesterday morning, our office received a report of possible sexual abuse of a minor by 57-year-old Isidro Jimenez of Jamestown. A deputy responded and conducted an initial investigation into the allegations. Once enough information had been gathered, our investigations division took over the investigation. Detectives quickly gathered enough evidence to believe Jimenez, a current sex registrant under 290 PC, had committed various sexual crimes against a child known to him. Subsequently, Jimenez was arrested for several sex related crimes against a child.

ABC Makes Arrest in Fraudulent COVID-19 Vaccination Card Case

Clements, CA...Agents of the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) have arrested the owner of the Old Corner Saloon in Clements on charges of selling fraudulent COVID -19 vaccination cards. ABC opened an investigation after receiving a complaint that fraudulent cards were being sold at the bar located at 18783 East California Highway 88 in Clements. Undercover agents were able to purchase the fraudulent cards at Old Corner Saloon on multiple occasions in April.
