Potential Scam Involving Residential Alarm System Installations

(San Andreas, CA) The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department was recently made aware of an up and coming scam trying to be carried out upon citizens of Calaveras County. In an email received by the sheriff’s department on December 12th by a concerned resident, we were informed that a homeowner received a phone call of a suspicious nature. During the phone call an unidentified person told the homeowner that the sheriff’s department considered the location that they lived “a high crime area with lots of home break-ins”. Calaveras County, CA....As part of his “Community First” plan Sheriff Gary Kuntz is recruiting new Neighborhood Watch Groups in Calaveras County. What is Neighborhood Watch? Neighborhood Watch is a program used throughout the nation where neighbors look out for each other. Assisted by Sheriff’s Office employees, a neighbor opens his/her home to the neighborhood and a short but informative meeting is held. Arrests Made in Vehicle Burglary...iPad Provides Location

On November 26th, 2011, at approximately 8:30 PM, an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department was dispatched to a report of a vehicle burglary, where the victim reported that his vehicle was broken into while it was parked in the downtown area. The victim, visiting from Southern California, parked and locked his vehicle and then went out to dinner with a friend. Upon returning to his vehicle he noticed that the vehicle door was ajar and property was missing. Items taken included an iPad 2, a back pack, clothing, and other items...

Wallace, CA...On 11/21/2011 at approximately 2020 hours Calaveras County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Chevron gas station in Wallace to meet a victim/reporting party regarding vandalism to a vehicle. Upon meeting the victim the deputies learned that at approx. 2010 hours on the same date the victim, a licensed process server, went to 11700 Wade Lane #9, Wallace, to serve Dan Marcus Valdez (53) a notice to appear on a civil matter. The victim stated that after he served Mr. Valdez the civil process papers he went to his car and just before he drove away he heard the back window of his 2007 Toyota shatter...

Felony Marijuana Arrest

Valley Springs, CA...On 11/20/11 Calaveras Sheriffs Department Deputies conducted a vehicle stop on a van on Highway 26 at Saint Andrews Road in Valley Springs. Deputies made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Jeannie Eastridge (41), and the passenger of the vehicle, Paul Eastridge (42), both of Rail Road Flat. Also in the vehicle was another adult, Michael Langston (18), of Railroad Flat, and 5 children (ages 3, 7, 13, 15, and 16). While speaking with the vehicle occupants sheriff’s deputies smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. They also noticed that Mr. Eastridge was bleeding heavily from an injury to his head...
