CHP is reporting a non-injury traffic collision possibly involving a vehicle vs. deer at Hwy 4 just east pf Brice Station Road. Please use caution if traveling in the area. Update 4:10pm, Roadway Clear.

Tuolumne County, CA....CHP is reporting a Traffic Collision with no Injuries at Little Fuller Road and South Fork Road. Several vehicles are spinning out on ice. CHP and towing company on scene. Please use caution. Roadway Clear at 6:10pm. Continue to use caution as the roads are very slick out there this evening.

Fire Captain, Nick Shawkey Guest Speaker at This Evenings Murphys Community Club Meeting~by Victor Claveau

Murphys, CA...Fire Captain Nick Shawkey of the California Department of Forestry (CAL FIRE) Skull Creek Station was guest speaker at the Murphys Community Club meeting January 27, 2009. Shawkey gave a quick overview of CAL FIRE activities, stating CAL FIRE responds to 350,000 State-wide calls annually. These include structure fires, hazardous materials spills, traffic accidents, and approximately 6,000 forest fires. Local firefighters can be dispatched State-wide, most often to Southern California, and in serious emergencies, anywhere in the country. The State Responsibility Area (SRA) is 30 million acres.....

CHP is reporting there is a vehicle off roadway at Hwy 4 just east of Arnold. It is a non-injury collision. Please use cation in the area and also while driving the next few days as the snow is coming down. Always carry chains.

Stockton Man Arrested for DUI, Later Returns to Confess After Leaving Scene

Jenny Lind, CA...A Stockton man was arrested for DUI on January 22nd at Milton Road west of Jenny Lind on January 22nd, 2009. Due to his level of intoxication and driving at a high rate of speed it causes his vehicle to overturn onto its side causing extensive damage to a fence. The driver fled the scene prior to CHP arriving, however, later returned to the scene to confess his involvement. CHP release enclosed....

CHP is reporting a solo vehicle collision at Hwy 4 and Hunt Dam Road. Apparently a vehicle hit the embankment. Please use caution in the area. No further details are available at this time. Roadway clear as of 2:40pm.

Vegetation Fire Reported in Railroad Flat on Tuesday

Railroad Flat, CA....CAL Fire reported a 3 acre vegetation fire on Tuesday January 20th at the 1800 Block Tone Trail of Railroad Flat. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire remains undetermined. No dollar damage reported. CAL Fire report enclosed....

Columbia Air Attack Base is First to Respond~by Victor Claveau

Columbia, CA....Helicopter Pilot Tom Eggleston welcomed me to the Columbia Air Attack Base, located next to the Columbia Airport, and agreed to show me around. Tom explained, “The men and women of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) are dedicated to the fire protection and stewardship of over 31 million acres of California's privately-owned wild lands. In addition, the Department provides varied emergency services in 36 of the State's 58 counties via contracts with local governments.....
