Lane Change Takes Life of Ceres Resident Joshua Cody Boykin on Hwy 120 (Updated)

Jamestown, CA...On March 13, 2019 at approximately 6:25 pm, 25 year old Turlock resident, Jeffery Smith, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling westbound on State Route 120 west of O’Byrnes Ferry Road at approximately 50-55 mph, in a line of vehicles. A 45 year old Ceres resident Joshua Cody Boykin was riding a 2016 Yamaha R1 motorcycle traveling approximately 50-55 mph, a few vehicles to the rear of Smith’s Tahoe. After eastbound traffic passed, the 45 year old rider moved his motorcycle into the eastbound lane and began to pass slower moving vehicles in front of him. As the motorcycle was pulling alongside the Tahoe, Smith moved to the left and began to enter the eastbound lane. Smith’s Tahoe struck the motorcycle, causing the Yamaha to travel to the left, across the eastbound lane and onto the shoulder.

Christchurch, NZ....The Following is a light on details early release from the Christchurch Police Dept..."Police are responding to a very serious and tragic incident involving an active shooter in central Christchurch. One person is in custody, however Police believe there may be other offenders. This is an evolving incident and we are working to confirm the facts, however we can confirm there have been a number of fatalities. Police is currently at a number of scenes.

Governor Gavin Newsom Orders a Halt to the Death Penalty in California

Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order today placing a moratorium on the death penalty in California. The executive order also calls for withdrawing California’s lethal injection protocols and immediately closing the execution chamber at San Quentin State Prison. The order does not provide for the release of any individual from prison or otherwise alter any current conviction or sentence.

Two DUI Arrests After Pursuits

Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Office..."Two DUI drivers were recently arrested after leading Deputy Kutch on separate pursuits. On March 2nd, Deputy Kutch was driving through downtown Sonora at 11 o’clock at night when he was forced to slam on his brakes to avoid a collision with a truck. The driver, 32-year-old Gerald Miller of Tuolumne, was driving the wrong way down a one way street and pulled out in front of our deputy, then lead him on a chase. During the pursuit, Miller rammed his truck into Deputy Kutch’s patrol car. Thankfully, the deputy was not injured in the collision.

Jamestown, CA...From Tuolumne Sheriff's Office..."Drugs and stolen property found after a Jamestown traffic stop. One of our deputies stopped a truck at Donovan and Main Street driven by 23-year-old Majer Montoya because he failed to stop at a stop sign.

Arrests Made in Nationwide College Admissions Scam: Alleged Exam Cheating & Athletic Recruitment Scheme

Boston, MA...Dozens of individuals involved in a nationwide conspiracy that facilitated cheating on college entrance exams and the admission of students to elite universities as purported athletic recruits were arrested by federal agents in multiple states this morning and charged in federal court in Boston. Athletic coaches from Yale, Stanford, USC, Wake Forest and Georgetown, among others, are implicated, as well as parents and exam administrators.

Pursuit Leads to Collision & Arrest of Oakdale Men

Sonora, CA...On Saturday, March 9, 2019, at approximately 4:17 am, CHP Officers attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to stop for a red light at the intersection of Highway 108 and Washington Street. The vehicle also matched the description of a vehicle involved in a burglary of a local hobby shop on Mono Way. The vehicle failed to yield to the patrol vehicle’s lights and siren and a pursuit ensued. After pursuing the vehicle for just over 7 miles, the driver, 59 years old Oakdale resident, Robert Casper, was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway on Springfield Road east of Shaws Flat Road. The vehicle left the roadway and its left side collided with a large rock.
