Las Vegas, NV...Sheriff Joe Lombardo held a press conference this morning to announce the release of the final Criminal Investigative Report in the 1 October Mass Casualty Shooting. The 183-page report prepared by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Force Investigation Team marks the conclusion of the criminal investigation into this incident.

MET Team Marijuana Eradication near Murphys

Murphys, CA...On 8-2-18 the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team served two search warrants near Murphys, CA. Both of these locations were illegal commercial sized marijuana cultivation sites that had been previously eradicated by the Sheriff’s Office in 2017. No suspects were found at either location yesterday. At the first location in the 4000 block of Globe Lily Gln, deputies eradicated 313 marijuana plants. In the 2017 case, this location was noted with numerous environmental violations including damming the waterway and open/unsecure chemicals in close proximity to the waterway. During yesterday’s operation, deputies noted that suspects occupying this site had not cleaned up or made any attempts for reclamation of the land. Many of the environmental violations from 2017 were still occurring.

Suspect Arrested for Attempted Burglary at Gas Station in Valley Springs

Valley Springs, CA...On 8-1-18 at about 0355 hours, CCSO Deputies were dispatched to an alarm call at the 76 Gas Station in Valley Springs. A deputy arrived on scene within minutes and saw the front glass door to the business was shattered and there was a male subject in the parking lot of the business. The male subject, later identified as 46 year old Richard Haight of Valley Springs, was detained at the scene.

Tuolumne Sheriff''s Office Seeking Suspects in Stabbing

Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Office..."We need your help in finding two men wanted in a stabbing. Around 8:30 last night, our deputies were called to Stoney Brook Mobile Home Park on Allison Way in Sonora for reports of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found a man on the ground suffering from severe injuries to his head, face, and throat.

Sheriff's Behavioral Health Liaison Receives Award

San Andreas, CA) On 7/18/18 the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office was notified that “Behavioral Health Liaison” Brenda Hanley is receiving an international award for “Leadership in Human Rights and Civil Rights” from the International Association of Chiefs of Police. The Sheriff’s Office nominated Ms. Hanley for the award. Ms. Hanley is an employee of Calaveras County Health & Human Services Agency and is assigned to the Sheriff’s Office to assist with calls for service regarding individuals with mental/behavioral health issues. More specifically Ms. Hanley assists Deputy Sheriffs in the field, at the hospital, and in the jail by working on short and long term solutions for individuals with behavioral health issues.

San Andreas Man Charged with Second Degree Murder in Death of Desiree Licon

San Andreas, CA...On 7-11-18 around 0240 hours Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a report of an altercation on Bargers Court in San Andreas. Upon arrival deputies found an unconscious 27 year old female who was treated by medics and later transported via air ambulance to an out of county hospital. Deputies arrested Jesse Almer (age 26 of San Andreas) at the scene for 273.5PC-inflict corporal injury on spouse/cohabitant and 243(d)PC-battery with great bodily injury, after it was determined that the female had sustained injuries during a physical altercation with Almer.

Major Injuries for Mountain Ranch Man in Dirtbike vs Vehicle Collision

Mountain Ranch, CA...On July 21, 2018, at approximately 1308 hours, a young Mountain Ranch man was a 2006 Honda YFZ250F eastbound on Stanley Road, east of Rabbits Foot Road, at an unknown speed. Another Mountain Ranch man was driving his Ford Explorer westbound on Stanley Road, approaching Rabbits Foot Road at approximately 25 mph, approaching the motorcycle's location. For a yet to be determined reason, the young man allowed his Honda to cross over the double solid yellow lines, directly into the path of the Ford. The front of the Ford collided with front of the Honda within the westbound traffic lane. The motorcycle rider was ejected from his Honda.

Another Fatality on our Local Roads as 73 Year Old San Andreas Man Loses Life in Collision

San Andreas, CA...On July 19, 2018, at approximately 1310 hours, a San Andreas man was driving a 1966 Chevy C10 truck, eastbound on Russell Road, approaching Market Street, at an unknown speed. For a yet to be determined reason, He made an unsafe turning movement and steered his pickup to the left. The front of the truck collided with a small tree, a large concrete block column and wood sign. He was pronounced deceased at the scene despite life saving efforts by emergency personnel.

Dorthea J Martz, 36, from Angels Camp Passed Away in July 15th Collision

Angels Camp, CA...The sad notifications have been made and CHP has released updated details on the fatal collision we reported earlier on. From CHP.."On July 15, 2018, at approximately 1920 hours, Dorthea J Martz was driving her 2005 Subaru eastbound on Vallecito Road, east of Rolleri Bypass at a high rate of speed. Mr. Sanders was driving his 1980 Ford westbound on Vallecito Road, east of Rolleri Bypass at 40 mph approaching the 2005 Subaru. Ms. Martz attempted to negotiate a right hand curve and allowed her vehicle to travel across the double yellow line into the westbound lane. The left front of the Subaru collided with the left rear of the Ford. The Subaru continued eastbound and off of the roadway. The Subaru overturned twice, ejecting her from the vehicle.
