Sonora, CA...The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the community for their patience. In compliance with current law, we are producing audio and video footage from our recent officer involved shooting incident, which took place on March 12, 2022 at Edgemont Acres. We at the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office consider any loss of life a tragedy. Please be mindful of the people involved, their family members and the total circumstances surrounding this event.

Texas National Guard Soldier Body Found, Identified

Austin, TX...The missing Texas Army National Guard Soldier, Specialist Bishop E. Evans, assigned to Operation Lone Star, has been found deceased following an exhaustive interagency search. SPC Evans went missing while trying to selflessly help migrants who appeared to be drowning as they tried to cross the river from Mexico into the U.S, on Friday April 22, 2022.

Jackson Police Seeking Main Street Vandalism Suspect

Jackson, CA...On Thursday April 21, 2022, the Jackson Police Department took several vandalism reports of broken windows at three locations on Main Street, the Amador County Library, and the Jackson Laundromat. Video surveillance obtained at the library depicted a male subject, wearing a distinctly colored jacket or hoodie and white shoes, throwing a wooden barricade several times at the glass door until it broke.

This is a great event for families, kids and the community to meet with first responders, see what they do, and see up close some of the equipment they use to do their jobs.

Scam Warning from Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept

Sonora, CA...Please spread the word about a scam targeting Tuolumne County residents. We have seen a recent increase in scam calls from a scammer who calls their victim by phone and identifies themselves as a detective with the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office. The scammer will tell the victim they have warrants for their arrest, and request the victim pay a fee relating to the warrant. The scammer will request the fee be paid in Bitcoin vouchers or gift cards.
