San Andreas, CA...Calaveras County Sheriff Gary G. Kuntz 63 years old born June 30, 1952 in Mandan, North Dakota died October 29, 2015 of a heart attack. Gary died in his home surrounded by family and friends. He moved to Calaveras County in 1969 and was a graduate of Calaveras High School in 1970.

San Andreas, CA...Viewing & visitation time For Calaveras County Sheriff Gary Kuntz will be Wednesday 5 to 8pm, Thursday, November 5 from 1 to 6 PM at San Andreas Memorial Chapel. Funeral procession commencing at St. Andrews Catholic Church in San Andreas at 10:00 a.m. Friday Nov 6 ending at Ironstone Amphitheater. With a celebration of life at 12 noon Ironstone. Private burial at Jenny Lind Cemetery.

West Point, CA...On 10/25/2015, at approximately 1703 hours, Officer J. Wion was traveling southbound on Bummerville Road, south of Winton Road when he attempted to make a stop on a vehicle for multiple vehicle code violations. As Officer J. Wion attempted to make an enforcement stop the driver/suspect failed to comply and a pursuit through West Point ensued. Three Men Deceased Following Rail Road Flat Shooting At Pot Grow (Updated..Names of Deceased Released)

Rail Road Flat, CA...(Updated the Calaveras County Coroner's Office has released the names of the deceased. The three killed while allegedly trespassing near a marijuana grow are 44-year-old Terry Glen Jr. of Waterford, 55-year-old Wes David Smith of Snelling and 60-year-old Robert Daniel Haney of Modesto.) On 10/20/15, at about 0920 hours, Deputies responded to a parcel of land on the 1400 block of South Rail Road Flat Road near the town of Railroad Flat for a third party report of a shooting, whereas three people were reportedly shot. Upon arrival deputies discovered three deceased adult male Caucasians, two of which were lying on a dirt roadway, the third was lying off the roadway. Medical personnel responded and confirmed that all three victims were deceased.

We were told off the record that the decedents had marijuana plants in their arms but it is still unclear if they had weapons.

Rail Road Flat, CA...(Update as of 2:05pm from the Sheriff's Office "09:30 hrs Calaveras Sheriff received reports of a shooting in the Railroad Flat area. Deputies arrived on scene and located 3 subjects deceased. Investigation is ongoing at this time.") There is currently lots of activity in the Rail Road Flat area. There have been multiple subjects detained and an air ambulance ordered. EMT crews are staged until the scene is secured. More to follow if needed... (Update as of 10:39am...we just spoke with Calaveras County Sheriff PIO Sgt Anthony Eberhardt and they are collecting details of the incident and will have a release available)

Recovery Of Stolen Firearm, Felon In Possession Of Firearm Arrest

Angels Camp, CA...On October 15, 2015 at approximately 11:15 AM an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department conducted a traffic stop of a Chevrolet HHR for expired registration on Appaloosa Road near Pinto Drive. While speaking to the two occupants of the vehicle, the officer could smell the strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The front seat passenger, identified as 67 year old Angels Camp Resident, Michael Airola, admitted to having some marijuana in the vehicle and that he did not possess a valid physician’s recommendation to possess the marijuana.

Traffic Stop Results in Arrest for Female Felon in Possession of a Firearm

Angels Camp, CA...On October 17, 2015 at approximately 4:10 PM, an Angels Camp Police Officer conducted a traffic stop of a Toyota Tacoma for expired registration on South Main Street near Monte Verda Street. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 51 year old Merced resident, Denise Aanonson. Annonson was driving on a suspended license and gave officers consent to search her vehicle. Officers located 4.6 grams of methamphetamine and a .38 caliber revolver.

Angels Camp, CA...On October 14, 2015 at approximately 1:25 AM, an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department was on patrol in the 500 block of Stanislaus Ave when he observed two men standing near a vehicle in the parking lot of a closed professional center.
