Unpleasantness Led to Injuries at Pleasant Valley State Prison

Coalinga, CA...Officials started an investigation of an incident that occurred today at around 9:40 a.m. when approximately 41 inmates were involved in a riot on the Facility B recreation yard at Pleasant Valley State Prison (PVSP). The incident began when three inmates started attacking one inmate and it escalated into a riot.

Update on Watsonville Man Shot at Deadman Campground

Kennedy Meadows, CA...During the investigation into the shooting at Deadman Campground, Detectives learned two years ago to the day, 36-year-old Timothy Smith was arrested and charged in San Mateo County with indecent exposure, annoy or molest a minor, and attempted kidnapping. Smith attempted to enter a tent occupied by children at a State Park Campground and engaged in a confrontation with the parents. Smith was arrested and later pled guilty to a charge of engaging in lewd conduct in public. The circumstances between these two cases were found to be eerily similar.

Controled Substance & Weapons Charges for West Point Man

West Point, CA...Enforcement Unit served a search warrant at an address located in the 200 block of Bucksaw Lane in West Point California. Investigators seized 1,101 growing marijuana plants and 27.47 pounds of processed marijuana. 5 firearms and a portion of an additional firearm were located during the search along with an illegal high capacity magazine. Calaveras County Code Compliance responded to the scene and discovered violations for electrical hazards and debris on the property.

Deadman Identified in Deadman Campground Shooting

Kennedy Meadows, CA...The man shot at the Deadman Campground on July 11th has been identified as 36-year-old Timothy Edward Smith of Watsonville. Next of kin has been notified. As soon as additional information is available it will be released by the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept.

Trio Makes Unsuccessful Jail Escape Attempt

Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept...Caught in the act! Last night, three jail inmates tried to escape but didn’t get far. 28-year-old Jacob Sabins, 38-year-old Josiah Silveira, and 44-year-old Larry Vannatta are now facing additional charges of attempted escape and criminal conspiracy.

Pair Arrested for Vehicle Theft, Robbery, Criminal Contempt & More...

Valley Springs, CA...On July 12, 2019 at about 9:00 a.m., the Calaveras Sheriff's Office received a report of a robbery involving a firearm. The victim reported that while at a location on Saint Andrews Road in Valley Springs, a suspect pointed a handgun at him and took his cellular phone and vehicle keys. After taking the keys, the suspect drove away in the Mercedes belonging to the victim. The suspect was known to the victim.
