Major Injuries in Twain Harte Area Hwy 108 Collision |
Posted by: thepinetree on 08/20/2019 11:41 AM
Twain Harte, CA...On August 19, 2019, at approximately 5:20 pm, Denver Jacob Bedford, a 34-year-old male from Twain Harte, was driving his 1996 Toyota pickup eastbound on State Route 108, near East Avenue at a high rate of speed. At that same time, Randall Hall Banks, a 56-year-old male from Sonora, was driving his 1996 Jeep Cherokee westbound on State Route 108 near East Avenue with passengers Mellita Cognetti, 33-year-old female from Jamestown and Mary Dailey, 18-year-old female from Sonora. Mr. Bedford allowed his vehicle to travel off the south shoulder of State Route 108 for reasons still being investigated. After leaving the roadway, he lost control of his vehicle and it traveled across the eastbound lane and into the westbound lane directly in front of Mr. Banks’ vehicle. As a result, the front of Mr. Banks vehicle collided into the passenger side of Mr. Bedford’s vehicle. As a result of the collision, both westbound lanes of State Route 108 were closed for approximately 20-25 minutes. The westbound traffic was detoured onto Twain Harte Drive (east).

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/19/2019 11:19 AM
Don Pedro, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept..."There was quite a bit of activity on Lake Don Pedro Saturday afternoon during the 2019 Poker Run Event. A large three-story house boat located in the Mexican Gulch area of the lake near Blue Oaks Campground, served as one of the check-in stations. At one point during the event the vessel became overloaded with too many people on one side which caused it to tip and take on water. Everyone aboard was able to exit the vessel before our boating enforcement unit arrived. A pontoon boat tied to the side of the house boat also capsized and sank. Thankfully everyone was safe and no injuries were reported.

Sacramento, CA..Today, Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB 392 by Assemblymember Shirley Weber (D-San Diego). The bill enacts one of the strongest use-of-force laws in the country. AB 392 modernizes standards for use of deadly force by officers. Specifically, this bill updates the existing deadly force standards to provide that deadly force may only be used when necessary. AB 392 also requires officers to use other techniques to address threats instead of using deadly force when safe to do so, encouraging law enforcement to train on and use de-escalation techniques like verbal persuasion and other crisis intervention methods.
