Sonora, CA...Please join us for this year’s Tip-a-Cop fundraiser event on October 17th, 4-8 pm at Applebee’s Restaurant in Sonora. A law enforcement officer will be teamed up with a Special Olympics Athlete, who will then help one of Applebee’s employees. The trio will wait on tables and serve customers throughout the evening.

Cash Machine Stolen From Sonora Express Carwash

Sonora, CA...Early yesterday morning at approximately 4:00 a.m., the cash kiosk was stolen from the Sonora Express Carwash. Two males drove a dark blue Chevy Tahoe into the car wash and ripped the cash kiosk from its mount using a steel cable attached to the vehicle’s trailer hitch.

Sheriff's Department Making Progress on Copperopolis Stolen Boats Case

Copperopolis, CA...On 9-7-17 Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office detectives served a search warrant at two locations on Woodland Avenue in Modesto and D Street in Oakdale. At the Oakdale location, Justin Labass (age 29 from Oakdale) was arrested for violations of 487(a)PC – Grant Theft, 459PC – Burglary, 496(a)PC – Possession of Stolen Property, and 30305(a)(1)PC – Possession of Ammunition by a Prohibited Person. Justin Labass is being held in the Calaveras County Jail with $105,000 bail.

2nd Suspect Arrested in Copperopolis Boat Thefts

Copperopolis, CA...On 9-8-17 Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Detectives and members of the Calaveras Sheriff Marine Safety Unit served a second search warrant at a location on D Street in Oakdale for additional stolen property related to the boat thefts on Lake Tulloch. Detectives located stolen property from several of the reported thefts and burglaries that occurred in Copperopolis, CA between June and September 2017.

Calaveras County CA...On 9-11-17 The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team assisted County Code Enforcement Officers with the execution of Marijuana Abatement Warrants which had been obtained for an unregistered marijuana cultivation sites. These sites were located in the 1100 block of Arapaho Lane in Burson, Ca, and in the 6200 block of Michel Road in Mountain Ranch, CA.

Vehicle vs Pedestrian Collision in Sonora Injures 23 Year old Mother & Her 1 Year Old Son

Sonora, CA...On Tuesday, September 12th, just before 8:00 p.m., the Sonora Police Department responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision at the intersection of Washington Street and Jackson Street. It was determined that a 1999 white Ford SUV, driven by a 78-year-old Sonora man, was traveling northbound on Washington Street and had struck a 23-year-old woman from Woodland California and her 1-year-old male child. The mother and her child were crossing Washington Street from east to west within the marked crosswalk when the collision occurred.
