Pursuit Ends With Felony Evading Charges for Sonora Man

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/03/2020 07:08 PM
Sonora, CA...On April 2, 2020 at approximately 10:00 P.M., a Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated an enforcement stop on a white pickup truck in East Sonora. The truck failed to yield to the Deputy and began traveling eastbound on Mono Way, failing to stop for several red traffic lights. The truck entered eastbound Highway 108 and the Sheriff’s Deputy requested the CHP to take over the pursuit. CHP units took over the pursuit on SR-108 near Long Barn and continued to chase the white truck, which was being driven by 32-year-old Cassady Ian Grambergu of Sonora. The pursuit continued to the winter closure point at Sno-Park where the pickup attempted to make a U-turn and collided into a tree. Grambergu eventually completed the U-turn and accelerated toward a CHP vehicle. Another CHP vehicle was able to pin the truck against a snow bank to stop Grambergu’s vehicle. Grambergu refused to exit the truck.

Calaveras Sheriff to All Non-Essential Visitors to Calaveras County, Please Stay Home.

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/01/2020 11:32 AM
San Andreas, CA...We implore all persons in and around Calaveras County who do not either reside here or provide essential services, to recognize the impact that the population increase due to visitation has on our community and health care system. Now is not the time to come to our community. If you are visiting for the day or short term, please respect our request to return to your primary place of residence. If we all do not practice STRICT social distancing and self-quarantine, we will suffer grave consequences. We cannot support recreation, visitation, close proximity, or non-essential public interaction right now. There is no other alternative and this must be accomplished now. If you want Calaveras County to remain the vacation getaway it has been in the past, we all must act to ensure a speedy recovery.

Tuolumne County Sheriff Ask Visitors to Please Stay Home

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/31/2020 09:14 AM
Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne County Sheriff..."During a pandemic, we can certainly understand why many would wish to seek shelter in the foothills of Tuolumne County. Although we normally appreciate and invite people from all over the world, we are asking all visitors to postpone their plans until the state and federal “stay-at-home” orders are lifted. As a smaller community with a relatively high vulnerable population, travelers pose a greater risk to residents of Tuolumne County. Furthermore, visitors who become ill place an even higher burden on our health care system, which could be quickly overwhelmed. Please do not worry about missing out because access to all parks, forests, and waterways are closed until the order is lifted.
