Soldier Stature By Artist John Kobald Unveiled At Memorial Day Ceremony

Murphys, CA...It was a fortuitous meeting when members of the Kautz family met artist and sculptor John Kobald when traveling. He became the sculptor to deliver the centerpiece of an incredible gift to the Ebbetts Pass Veterans District's Veterans Memorial and the community. The artist is pictured below the full sized, larger than life, bronze stature unveiled this morning. The Kautz Family underwrote the costs of the expansion improvements at veteran's memorial. Travel Management Agreement Reached on Stanislaus National Forest

Sonora, CA… A settlement agreement on the 2010 litigation of the 2009 Stanislaus National Forest (NF) Motorized Travel Management decision was filed with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California today and is effective immediately. The U.S. Forest Service and the plaintiffs to the litigation (The Wilderness Society; Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility; and the Central Sierra Environmental Resource Center) reached an agreement that balances the plaintiffs’ concerns while retaining the majority of motorized Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) routes made in the 2009 decision for recreational use...

Frogtown, CA....Last week the The 75th Annual Miss Calaveras Pageant was on opening day of the fair. Server loads have calmed down enough for us to finally post the summary piece on the event. The 2014 Miss Calaveras as you probably have read here and other places is Sabrina Elaine Perez. We heard attendee after attendee who said they were amazed at the quality of contestants that this small, rural county produces. If the level of contestants is any measure of the next generation of young women here then out future is in very good hands. This event is truly a multi-generational event. In some families 3 generations of women have competed. There have been mother & daughter winners and much more.
