Calaveras County, CA...ArtSpirit, the 18th annual High School Juried Exhibition will open in Calaveras Arts Council’s Gallery Calaveras on Saturday, March 14. Student artists are from Calaveras, Bret Harte and Mountain Oaks high schools. A public reception will be held on Saturday, March 14 from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. in the gallery. Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! A trace of new snow fell overnight with more on the way! Snow showers will be likely today mainly after 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37. Southwest wind 6 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. The current storm track looks to bring us about 3-6" of new snow over the next few days. Cooler temps and moderate winds will also play a role for this system. Bring the family and friends up for some "Pure Mtn Fun" as it's a great time to take advantage of some of the deals we have going on. Bear Valley, CA... Hey Good People! Mostly sunny today with a high near 50. North northwest wind 5 to 11 mph becoming northeast in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph. Tonight - A 30% chance of snow with a night time low around 32F, less than 1/2" expected. Snow levels for this system could push down to the 4000' range and possibly a bit lower. Le Jazz Hot Raised The Temps At Ovations Performance In Angels Camp

Angels Camp, CA...Calaveras Arts Council’s fourth show for the Ovations 2015 Performing Arts Series brought Le Jazz Hot, to Dr. Elliott Smart Performing Arts Center on Sunday. Le Jazz Hot is the quartet of the Hot Club of San Francisco who continue the tradition of fine French Gypsy Jazz. Their music is the offspring of Gypsy culture, 1920’s Paris, and American Jazz. Inspired by Django Reinhardt, it is sophisticated yet it has a sentimental quality. It is sometimes flamboyant. It is sometimes melancholy. Leader and guitarist, Paul Mehling, together with Isabelle Fontain on guitar and vocals, Evan Price on violin, and Jamie Mather on bass, make up the most venerable gypsy band in the US. Their music is gypsy jazz but is distinctly American. They honor Reinhardt’s style without purely imitating him and without watering down the gypsy tradition or diluting the music. Together and singularly, Le Jazz Hot’s performance is jaw dropping. These superb, multitalented musicians are impressive not only for their mastery of multiple instruments and vocals, but also for the simple joy they exude onstage...
