Calaveras Amateur Radio Society Annual Field Day in Bear Valley This Weekend!

Bear Valley, CA....Again, this year the /Calaveras Amateur Radio Society (CARS)/ will set up radio equipment and antennas in the Mt. Reba parking lot in Bear Valley, and will be operating from early Saturday morning to late Sunday morning around the clock using battery backup, and emergency power only. CARS members will be setting up and operating up to 10 Amateur radio stations, which will be operating in several modes such as Voice, Morse Code, ....

Hey Kids.....The Bear Valley Summer Reading Program Begins Monday!

Bear Valley, CA....Join the Bear Valley Library for this fun event for children ages 4 to 13 years of age. For two weeks they will be meeting from 1~3:30pm to read, paint, and do crafts. Their reading theme this year is "Catch the Reading Bug." Vienna Watkins returns to teach the kids some watercolor techniques during this program. Program dates are June 23~30th and July 1~3. Valley Springs, CA....After much consideration the Calaveras County Deputy Sheriff’s Association is pleased to announce the organization is endorsing the Trinitas project. The DSA made the announcement Friday evening during the Valley Springs Area Business Association mixer. DSA President Tracy Busby told those in attendance the DSA understands the lean economic times the County faces and believes the Ridge at Trinitas could help generate a much needed boost to the County coffers as well as other businesses in the County with little impact to County services or infrastructure.....

Angels Camp, CA....Today in Angels Camp, the Gold Strike Girls shot a test shoot for their upcoming "GOLD STRIKE GIRLS" 2009 Calendar. All 37 of the models were local ladies, age 21 or older, who are sponsored by local businesses. This year marks the first year of the calendars creation however, they hope for it to become a local annual tradition. Models started to arrive at 12 noon at the Pacific Financial Group building in Angels Camp where photographer Andrea Silva set up a head shot studio........

Performed by Brooke Lawrence, Amy Mazzaferro, and Shelby Richardson, these three intrepid Mirror Project alums tackle Shakespeare's tragedy of jealousy and doomed love in a miraculous five minutes! Sure to bring a smile to your face, the ladies will be telling their tale on the Stevenot Winery lawn ever twenty minutes from 12:00 to 3:00 on Saturday. Don't miss it! Lake Alpine is still producing some big rainbows. The dock is now in and the fishing is excellent. Make sure to call ahead as it does get very windy there. Trollers should try Apex, Needlefish, and Rapala's behind a small dodger tipped with a nightcrawler or try a flasher/nightcrawler combo. The Lodge will be open and they will be renting cabins. You can contact the lodge at 209-753-6358. Fly fishermen should try woolly buggers, flying ants, and sparrow nymphs. Bank fishermen should try nightcrawlers, Gulp Power Bait, Gulp Nightcrawlers, floating Power Eggs,and salmon eggs. Lure casters should try Kastmasters, Panther Martin spinners, and Rooster Tails.....
