Angels Camp, CA...(Frogtown, USA)..Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee 3rd Annual Cowboy Poetry Competition is May 20, 2016. Our focus is on stories about the life of rural communities and today's real working West. We look for poems and lyrics that say something original about cowboying, ranching, or rural life. .
We encourage poems and lyrics inspired by personal experiences. We look for works that go beyond platitudes, seeking those that say something new, or say something in a new way about today's real working West.
Alpine County Heritage Tourism Rededicate Historic Sites

Markleeville, CA...A day of historic recognition and rededication is set for Saturday, April 9, 2016 for three Markleeville main street locations. The rededication ceremonies will begin at noon across from the courthouse in Markleeville. The first is the Charles W. Barrett Memorial Fountain, originally erected in 1941, to honor the former sheriff of Alpine County. Next is the Markleeville Heritage Park and Nature Area, located adjacent to the Alpine County Courthouse. This is the former location of the United States Forest Service guard station.
Calaveras County Airport Fly-In & Open House--April 23

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Airport Fly-In/Open House will be Saturday April 23 from 8am to 5pm. We start our day with a pancake breakfast by the Tri-Dam Lions Club. Aircraft will start to arrive early and classic cars will be setting up for display along with radio controlled aircraft. Airplane rides will also start early and continue throughout the day; $10 for adults and $5 for children. Musical entertainment will be provided by “The Calaveras Community Band” followed by “The Rusty Rockers”. Lunch options include pulled pork sandwiches by EAA 484, bratwurst by Moke Hill Lions, and hot dogs by the local boy scouts. Come join the fun and make Calaveras County Airport (KCPU) your destination April 23!

Taking the stage on Thursday May 19 at 8 P.M. for Miss Calaveras will be Macy Breaux (Bret Harte), Hailey Long (Calaveras), Brighton Hamari (Bret Harte), Emma Hampton (Calaveras), Makayla Ruthrauff (Calaveras), and Sierra Stackpole (Calaveras).

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! After a day of Pond Skimming, Brewfest, Jib Jam and more it's time to relax and ski/ride the beautiful spring corn skiing!!! The high today should be 57F with winds out of the SW from 5-10mph. High pressure ridging is in full effect and the spring corn style skiing/riding is off the cobb!!!! 4 or 5 more days of sunny weather then a chance of snow later in the week. Come on up to Bear Valley and enjoy the ride! All weather Highway 4 is the easiest drive to any resort on the West slope! We're about "Pure Mtn Fun" so come check us out.
Mark Twain Medical Center Held Their 7th Annual Spring Health Fair

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) held Their 7th Annual Health Fair on March 26th at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys. Over twenty community health related service groups will participated in this community-wide event. A wealth of information was available on topics such as senior health services, health insurance, nutrition, and fitness. Low cost testing and services included Blood Analysis ($45), and Bone Density Screenings ($10). In addition to the five-panel blood analysis (this test consists of a chemistry panel, thyroid, complete blood count, lipid panel, iron for women, and PSA for men), the Medical Center will also now screen for vitamin D deficiencies....
San Andreas, CA...Please join us for our annual fundraiser. This event give us a chance to mingle with the wonderful citizens who support us daily, while raising funds to give back to cause throughout the county. Each year we are able to give the funds raised to many worthy causes. Mostly we focus on our youth programs such as youth sports, both in public schools and recreational leagues, youth activities and scholarships. Many requests are made throughout the year and we feel fortunate to be able to give back to the community we serve and love.

Jamestown, CA...With spring in full bloom, California State Parks and Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) are proud to provide guests with a unique opportunity to experience spring wildflowers from aboard a train pulled by the “Movie Star Locomotive” Sierra No. 3! While the Park is open daily, special Wildflower Train Rides are available on two Saturday afternoons -- April 9 & 16 -- and depart from the Depot promptly at 3 p.m. Prior to boarding the train, passengers will have the opportunity to learn about the wildflowers of California’s Sierra Nevada foothills by watching an informative video presentation at 2:15 p.m.
