Murphys, CA...Swing Gitane, a band that draws its inspiration from the great swing music of the early to middle 20th century, will close out another successful season of the Murphys Community Club’s First Fridays in the Park when they take to the gazebo stage September 7, starting at 5:30 p.m. The band’s repertoire includes French musette and gypsy styles as well as American, Latin and cowboy jazz standards. Their infectious rhythms, vocal harmonies and straight-ahead sound are designed to set toes tapping and to put smiles on faces throughout the audience...
Angels Camp Centennial Celebrations Set for September 28 & 29

Angels Camp, CA....The main event in the historic Gold Rush town of Angels Camp’s year-long celebration of its 100th anniversary as an incorporated city is set for September 29 when a Street Fair from 11 am to 4 pm will close Main Street (State Highway 49) for the first time in over 50 years. The Street Fair may well be the largest event held on Main Street since the frog jumps were held there in the 1920s and ‘30s. The Street Fair will include Western gun fights, a frog jump, an old-fashioned soap box derby, pony rides, vendors of all descriptions, street performers, lots of food and drink concessions, and a variety of music stretched from the historic downtown to Utica Park....

Murphys, CA...With Mic Harper directing The Calaveras County Community Band played a great Labor Day Concert in the Gazebo at Murphys Community Park. With players from 12 -90 their members and music span generations. With a history that traces back to the Gold Rush the Community Band has become a fixture in the county. Murphys, CA...With three big events still left on the Ironstone Amphitheater Schedule we thought it might be a good time to catch up with Ironstone Vineyards President Stephen Kautz and see how the season is progressing. With Tony Bennett and Jackie Evancho backed by a full orchestra August 31st, Jeff Foxworthy September 8th and closing out the season with the Ironstone Concours D' Elegance on September 22. Ironstone will be having some of their biggest draws in the weeks ahead. Tickets are still available for all three events so don't miss out. The Tony Bennett show is drawing people literally from all over the world with one attendee who is coming from Milan, Italy just for the show..
