Maple and Vine Runs April 22 - May 15 At Murphys Creek Theatre

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/10/2016 09:21 PM
Murphys, CA...Ozzie and Harriett. Father Knows Best. I Love Lucy. Life "as it should be"- ordered, polished, and served up with a daily smile and a martini. It is tempting to want to trade in the high powered life of constantly being plugged in, electronically attached to the world, caught up in the rat race where everything is never enough. When Katha and Ryu meet Dean, the ultimate in "Timeshare deals" becomes a time warp of sorts, as this New York power couple decide to try living in 1950's America, in a re-enactment community created by The Society for Dynamic Obsolescence. The goal: to escape the 21st century and revert to the 1950's.

Columbia, CA...The Columbia College Community Chorus, conducted by Dr. Daryl Hollinger, will perform its annual Spring concert in the sanctuary of St. Matthew Lutheran Church on Saturday evening, April 23rd, at 7:30 p.m., and again on Sunday afternoon, April 24th, at 3:00 p.m. The first half of this varied spring program features three of Dr. Hollinger's original Psalm settings and the famous Mass in G by Franz Schubert for chorus, soprano, tenor and bass soloists with chamber orchestra. After a short intermission, the 43-member chorus will perform a lively group of well-known choruses from stage and opera: The popular Va, pensiero, from Verdi’s Nabucco, choruses from Borodin’s Prince Igor, Gounod’s Faust, and Verdi’s Il Travatore. A choral medley from Fiddler on the Roof and an audience sing-along from The Sound of Music are also on the program. A special treat will be three songs from Shakespeare's plays set by jazz great George Shearing.

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/07/2016 11:13 AM
Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! I just wanted to give everyone a heads up about the Grizzly Bowl and conditions.......Last nights low was 46F and coupled with the previous weeks heat laden days, conditions in the lower mtn have gotten better in an ever narrowing window of open to close. Today that has changed. Deep melt is currently the thing at 9:26am and with loose wet slides already occurring today we have made the call to close it down for the day and the rest of the season.

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/07/2016 11:24 PM
Angels Camp, Calif. — It’s been five long years since California river guides have been able to get excited about the Sierra Nevada snowpack. But based on the most recent snow survey, and just one year after the driest winter ever recorded in California history, veteran California rafting outfitter, O.A.R.S., is excited to release the best California whitewater forecast in five years. “There’s no doubt that this will be the best season we’ve seen since 2010 and 2011,” O.A.R.S.’ California Manager and longtime river guide, Chris Moore, said. “We’re especially excited about the opportunity to run the North Fork of the Stanislaus and the North Fork of the American this year, as well as high-water on the Tuolumne. It’s going to be the experience of a lifetime.”
