Mountain Ranch, CA....The versatile Matt Cullen Trio will bring its repertoire of music from the 1940‘s and ‘50’s to the Mountain Ranch Park on Wednesday, July 2, as part of the Calaveras Arts Council’s “Music in the Parks.” The free event starts at 6:30 pm, and folks should bring their own chairs and picnics. Angels Camp, CA....Soroptimist International of Calaveras County held their annual installation of officers at Utica Park on June 22nd. Club members enjoyed a delightful Hawaiian luncheon with hula dancing at Utica Park as President-Elect Karen Strand took the helm as SICC's 2008-2009 President. Former Club member Normal Rash served as the presiding installation officer. Paulette Stelte lent her expertise as the day's M.C. and Kathi Flores and others provided delicious pot luck dishes......

Murphys, CA.....The Frogarazzi were out in force again Saturday Morning. They were at the S.N.A.C Painted Frog of Calaveras County unveiling. The festivities were held at their New General Store in downtown Murphys. The artist of this frog was Bob Carabas and he did a wonderful job capturing the essence of what S.N.A.C and The Central Sierra Environmental Resource Center wanted to portray in this project. CSERC is the Non-Profit will be the beneficiary of the October Frog Auction for this frog. If you would like to visit this wonderful expression of Frogliness it is located in the Breezeway next to The General Store...

Angel Auction Raises Thousands of Dollars for Two Respected Non-Profits on Saturday Eve ~By Hanna Alldrin

Angels Camp, CA.... Last night the Angel Auction raised thousands of dollars to help fund the new the new digital mammography machine for Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital Foundation and also for the Calaveras Arts Council. The red and white wine reception started at 5:30 yesterday evening at Camps Restaurant at Greenhorn Creek in Angels Camp. “Mediterranean Mystique” was the theme that has been selected for this year’s Angel Auction, a benefit for two respected non-profits, the Calaveras Arts Council and Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation’s campaign to fund new digital mammography machine. Last year the theme was a tropical oasis, making the "Mediterranean Mystique" a fantastic theme change. The outstanding and beautiful Angel Auction watercolor was painted and donated by Maren Sampson....

The two new venders include: Aria Bakery in Murphys and The Main Street Cafe in Angels Camp. The farmers market is a first for both of these business's looking for expansion and to share their unique flavors with our local community. Aria Bakery has a wide variety of specialty baked goods including: pies, muffins, cookies, bread and much more....
